Doesn't matter how much you spend on shorts when you weigh 15 stone, all bib shorts are made for sub 11 stone comfort.

Yeah, i weigh 17 stone (trending downwards fortunately) & 178cm tall (5f10) & i get about 2 months of use before the foam padding is worn down/flat as a pancake & then offers no support. Also, since i need XL on my bibs it has a very poor fit since the manufactures assumes that all riders have 1cm (0.4 inch) diameter legs & are 30 meter (about 90 feet) tall all chamois end up in the wrong place on the bibs & since they assume an XL rider is that tall the shorts legs functions as full length legs for me (slight exaggeration). I wish they started making "wide" version of bibs just like there is some wide shoes, so keep the length of the bibs but make it as wide as 1-2 sizes up, so for instance, i could buy a "L wide" to get the proper leg length, chamois position but the waist of an XL bib. I think such a system would sell like hotcakes, very few amateur riders look like a 90 feet tall skeleton

I've made a benchmark for cargo bibs from 100 to 200 euros and decided for the Q36.5 Gregarius Cargo Adventure Bib Shorts XL. I'm 1,74m and 83kg weight, athletic body type, and I'm very surprised with its quality and comfort during long rides, very light and breathable fabric, deep pockets, I didn't felt the straps on my shoulders, they're just on point. Until now, I can say I found the perfect cargo bib shorts for me.

Nice and prety realistic video about cycling clothes. When I started I get some used clothes and I was happy with it and I was thinking I don’t need anything better. Later I get some cheap chinese bibs and jerseys but they were brand new, the difference was obvious, they were much nicer to wear even if they are chinese copy. In last time I got few brand new branded bibs and the differend is way bigger. On the way is one Altura bib and I believe I would love it.

i used castelli for years, then they changed the chamios so that it was smaller up front and chaffed in the wrong places... so now w assos, so much better

Old gits wear waist shorts and clip braces ( suspenders in USA ). When you go into the WC, you'll find out why they are right. :-) Original 'bibs', for example made by Monveir Sport of Madrid, Spain had the bib at the front because it's supposed to keep your chest warm in winter, and is why they are called 'BIB'. The rear straps had buttons for the toilet easy drop.

Pearl Izumi for me. I prefer shorts over bibs, and their chamois fits me. No need for me to spend more, though I wish there were some reasonably priced cargo bib shorts. Hopefully it'll happen this year.

Honestly I bought some £30 dhb bib shorts and they are totally fine done 3 hours in the saddle no issues.

Does the comfort of the chamois drastically change from entry to premium? I have the cheaper entry levels bibs for my training rides up to 1h30min and my mid range bibs for longer rides. Personally the mid range does feel considerably better, therefore I prefer not buy kits.

Didn't understand what the three chamois designs actually mean for the rider experience , eg why not stick with the thicker entry level pad, is it just fashion??

What about in comparison to other brands? I own a few Altura clothing which I find are mid-level in terms of pricing. So why would somebody such as myself would need to spend a bit more to get Castelli or Le Col for example?

I bought Amazon branded ones for like $29. Not a good choice lol. No padding and barely silicone grip on the bottom of the bib so it would keep riding up my leg. So far, pedal mafia Bibs are my current favorite ones.

I've got a pair of assos mille gt (~100€) and a pair of Alé PR Sella(or Strada, not sure, for ~ 40-50€). I love the Alé Shorts, hate the assos, not sure why.

I’ve a couple of cheap pairs from a local sports store to use on my daily commute as it’s only around 10/15km. Have pairs that’s are around €90+ for weekend rides and longer rides.

Why are cycling shorts so long. Why aren't they made shorter? is there benefit to the shorts being longer as opposed to shorter? I prefer shorter over longer length. I'd like to know if cycling shorts are made that have a short inseam length say, 6' 'inseam for example.

I unfortunately tried the Rapha pro team. Used Endura Gore Mavic Castelli and Assos before and all pretty good. I'm now stuck with having to buy the Rapha pro team. Whole new level of comfort for me. But like saddles and shoes its all very personal for what works.

It's about time pads were based on rider weight. A 90kg rider has different cushioning requirements compared to a 60kg rider.

This. At 6’1” and 90kg, with being a bit more “blessed” in the rear, finding comfortable shorts and saddles is an impossibility. £7 Lidl seat is the best way I can spend long days in the saddle. Not all cyclists are 7 stone wringing wet!

Well I have two questions 1st does anyone make adjustable shoulder straps because all the Bib Shorts I have tried and own are too short? 2nd does any brand make a Chamios Shorts without padding in them? I know of a number of top long distance riders who cut out the Chamios to have more comfortable short.

All.my shorts are without the ''bib" straps. If I need to drain the tank, there's no pulling off the top , ta king down the strap stuff. They are comfortable, and not restrictive. If I ever worry about them sliding off, I'll invest in suspenders. So far , after years of not wearing bib shirts, I've never had a problem...and I've never paid ridiculous sums of money, simply because "well, all the cyclists ' in the know' wear Joe Fabeetz bib shorts"...

Altura are not entry level shorts. Aldi, lidl or halfords ridge are entry level. Then start talking altura, dhb, planet x, followed by the the likes of castelli, rapha, etc

€60,- isn't really "budget". Budget is the junk from AliExpress for €5-15. "Junk" is probably a bit of an exaggeration, but they clearly don't compare to any of the bib shorts demonstrated here.

This bike was really easy to assemble kzbin.infoUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA and required very few adjustments out of the box. The wheels did not require any truing/adjustments. The frame had some small scratches, but nothing major.I did replace the seat though - the seat it came with was very uncomfortable. The tires need to be re-inflated every 4-5 days, but this appears to be quite common for the narrow 700x25 tires.Overall, in my opinion, this bike looks and rides like a much more expensive bike.
