My wife was bothered by light in the middle of the night so there was no way to study my Bible while laying awake so I memorized the most important verses in the first five books of the Bible and I got to where I could kind of go through them in a few minutes in the dark

I agree!! As someone who often feels daunted by most Bible memory systems this one actually seems incredibly approachable! I’ve been a Christian since ‘96 and I once sat with my Pastor explaining how frustrated and I felt at my lack of memorisation skill, he told me “Ian, you’re mind is like a sieve, but yours is the cleanest sieve”. That helped me with that feeling of failure but I’m always hopeful I’ll find something that will help me memorise Scripture
