Bible Study - Self-Defense & Lethal Force

Many Christians believe in arming themselves for personal protection or for protecting their loved ones or property, but without understanding that there is something very wrong with that. This message reviews what Jesus Christ and the Apostles taught and did in setting us an example. We need to trust in God and not ourselves.

Good points. I pray for Gods kingdom everyday. I believe we can physically stop a violent, evil act such as rape or murder without necessarily taking a persons life, but only with God as the tip of our spear. In a very real sense as a Christian we should not harm others but I will add we should step in to stop harm being done to our neighbour. A quick prayer is a game changer followed by action, as God requires us to do our part. Very solid points you make.

Saving a life or preventing harm is primary. If a love one's life or neighbor's life is in jeopardy, then saving that life or preventing harm to them by any means necessary is more important than sitting back and allowing it to happen. That's being a good and loving neighbor. I believe you are unrealistic in your understanding on this matter.

GOD doesn't change and in the new testament GOD says he hates cowards. Self defense and protection of one's self and there family is not murder. Your view would also say not to put criminals in prison but just let them run free and commit crimes.

I see your point sir, but sometimes, it is not sin, to stop a criminal act, or protect your family or pets. It is a HEART ISSUE.. THE INTENT OF THE HEART. Of course, we ought not desire to harm anyone, but self defense i do not deem wrong. I was bullied all my young life, by older brothers, and they even beat me up as a baby and made my life hell, and i was severely bullied in kindergarten right through high school, and almost never fought back. BULLIES NEED TO BE STOOD UP TO! I allowed myself to be a total pushover loser! I joined the Air Force at age 21. My dad was drafted in WW2, and his parents did not realize an only son did not have to go to war! My older twin bros, were drafted for Viet Nam, so they joined the US Coast Guard, and after that, joined the Navy. I felt guilty for not serving my country, so joined the Air Force at age 21. I was discharged after 7 months because of the sabbath,as i had gotten involved with SDA church. My life went to pieces after that, and i never have made more than $19,000 in a year. Im in 70th yr now, and on Soc Sec. I am a lonely old bachelor, and have no cogs in my region. Dying of loneliness, so i joined the local American Legion, as they said they needed so much help, and undermanned. I honor all veterans , who laid their lives on the line, even though our government has been corrupted for a long time. I just have to disagree with you on this one, but, i respect you.
