I was in a cult - a charismatic church that was really controlling, mind control, gaslighting, etc. No one told me to do this, but I'd go home after church with my sermon notes and look up all the verses the pastor taught (b4 I wised up and got OUT). I'd read the whole chapter or look off cross references. When my friends faith was shipwrecked because of what happened, my faith (praise God) was solid and I'd learned a whole lot. You've GOT TO feed yourself too. Thanks for this video. People need to be discerning about who to listen to because not everyone on the web is teaching truth.

I am a 2-3 year old Daycare teacher and I have a lot of downtime, during naptime. And I have learned that instead of scrolling through my phone for 3 hours I pack my backpack up, with my prayer journal, Bible journal and Bible and I have been using every free minute I have to read Gods word.And as long as all the kiddoes are sleeping during this time, I have so much time to read! And it really does start connecting the dots, all my studies throughout the day. And you feel God speaking to you!

"10 seconds in prayer is WAY better than 15 minutes scrolling on your phone." 🔥🔥🔥 YES! Also, I adore the way you edit your videos. All the noises, the callouts, the different sections, even the zooming. Hahaha. Just love it. Thanks for all you do! You've been a huge inspiration to me on my brand-new Christian journey. :)

HEHE, it's my downfall but then also my superpower. I can get too caught up into my schedules/plans/rules but then also thrive under times of discipline. I once gave up sodas in fifth grade for a new years resolution and I have literally never had one since. So, the rest of my life since, I have taken New Years Resolutions VERY seriously! Lol

I love your videos' and would love to receive your bible study guide for a year. I'm do bible studies at my church on Wednesday nights but I'm looking to get even closer to God, but I don't spend enough time daily and I'm not doing bible journaling because I have essential tremor so I'm trying to develop a way that I can do work sheets for taking notes as I read on my computer.. You have given some great tips. I have read through the bible but have to admit that I do have a tendency to skim over some of the not so interesting parts like geologies. I sent my email to you requesting your bible reading plan and it's March so I'm going to be a few months behind where you are at.

Thank you God and Hey! That's why I am not surprised that He recommended me to open my youtube after my quiet time today because there's something good that he will reveal today, and through you miss faith, it is revealed to me. could you do a video on what commentary you use most often and why?
@HowtoFaithALife3 жыл бұрын
Right now it’s the Bible knowledge commentary because it’s an easy two volume set that’s still fairly detailed and so I chose it as my commentary to use throughout reading the Bible through the year. After that would be the new international commentary on the New Testament or Old Testament, but that’s a HUGE volume set
@HowtoFaithALife3 жыл бұрын
I have the Bible knowledge commentary linked in my description!

@HowtoFaithALife3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I often feel the same way! I really like the Bible knowledge commetaries because they are only two volumes (NT and OT) so it’s a bit simpler and less expensive and overwhelming

In my perfect world the sermon on Sunday and the Bible study with my 'Council of Wisdom' and 'Messy Church' and my devotion books would all centre around the same Bible passage. Unfortunately the universe does not revolve around me and my ideas *sigh* But all the suggestions you make here is what happens in my spiritual life, just not uniformly based around the same passage. The only thing that does is that our congregation is emailed the Bible passages a few days before so we do have the opportunity to read them before we get to church.
@HowtoFaithALife3 жыл бұрын
That's awesome that everyone is emailed the Bible passage! I love that!

Bible Study Fellowship was always hard for me to connect. Looking for a woman's Bible Study group in Houston, TX!!
@rainbowrose92993 жыл бұрын
Well God at the moment wants me yo open my bible up anywhere because it is actually guided so he will open it up for me. I also once started reading the bible from the beginning got to numbers and then God didn't want me to do that anymore. I suppose if you pray before hand or ask for guidance he will guide you regardless. He will guide you to do whatever he wants you to do you. I found that sometimes when I was struggling I would go to the front of the Bible (some of them have guidance at the front) and God would tell me what he wanted to read this was when I was feeling personally not good, so it's hood for guidance on healing by reading guidance at the beginning for example for anxiety stress or if your angry. I suppose a good way to start I think would be to start reading from the beginning of the book because that is the start of God's creation of human kind and its important yo know the story (Genesis). It depends where you are in your life. I think proverbs are great for guidance on good holy positive living and direction. Psalms are great fir worshipping and thanking God. Gospels Matthew Mark Luke and John are great to read yo understand about Jesus and his teachings. I usually get guided to read about the prophets isaiah Jeremiah or John and revelations. So just reading the bible period is good but asking for guidance is even better. Get the word in you first try it and read it slowly, you may find you contemplate the bit you are reading and wonder about it think about it try to understand it, which is good. You might feel strange unsettled confused or just bored. You never know what your going to feel. But I would say Proverbs are really interesting and teach you and encourage you to understand what is right wrong good bad and gives you good direction for how to see things and how to behave respond act in life in a way which is guided by God. Its a good way to start but Genesis too is good. If your good with pray and you want to jump straight in Pray on it before you read it and God should guide you on what he wants or how he wants you to read it. He might just want you to read it and let it sink in and you absorb through your eyes into your body God bless you all.
