I have used online commentaries for years but have been increasingly unsatisfied with them. I purchased the Bible Knowledge commentary recently. I have to be a witness (grin) to the fact the two volume set is FAR better... Because of your videos I have equipped my library with a Bible Dictionary and the Commentary. Thanks Faith for sharing so much to enrich my personal Bible study.

I know I am 7 months late, but I just wanted to bring to your attention that I am loving this study series on John. I am fairly new to Bible study, as I recently gave my heart to God again back in Nov of last year. I first gave my heart to God at a young age and that led to my teenage years reading the Bible in trying to study God's word. However, I was bad at it. I literally just read the Bible and did not study it. I am so grateful to you that now as an adult I can watch your videos, follow along with you in my own Bible journaling journey and actually have a hunger and a thirst for God's word. FAITH, will you please do a how to build a Christian study book library on a budget. I am really interested in getting some good but lower cost handbook to the Bible, Bible commentary, ect. I say books because I live where we can sometimes lose power for a week . And what books are actually most important. Most important 5-10 books. Thankyou Thankyou

Just let us know in advance as some of us are in different countries with different time zones. The first thing I did was asked myself who is John, and who is the John he is speaking about? Surely he wasnt speaking about himself..Then I realised no: The writer is John, brother of James, Son of Zebidee (Sons of Thunder) The apple of Jesus eye, the man whom Jesus gave his mother to. And that he was speaking about John the Babtist as being the witness.

Hi Here's a hint for your fingers! Curve your index finger and relax the hand when writing. Your fingers and hand would be most grateful 😊 I should be able to pull the writing instruments from your hand easily when I walk by .😊 We were taught how to hold a pen/pencil correctly Everything had to be neat and correct. If the teacher couldn't read it ,you had to do it over again neatly !😊

I appreciate a good commentary but only after doing the work of studying and meditation on your own first. I think it's easy to use them as a crutch and not go to God to hear what he wants you to learn specifically from a passage. Sometimes I'll go for a walk and talk out loud about issues I run into while studying and God gives me revelation. The notes app is great for that as you can record the thoughts he gives you. So, I found a Fireside Catholic Youth Bible at Goodwill for $1.50 because I was not spending $20 or $30 on a Bible just to read it for funsies. And I'm SUPER glad that I found it because it has so many great notes about exegesis and hermeneutics and cultural/linguistic background already in it. I'm struggling to find things to write down because it's already there.

I thoroughly enjoy your videos, Faith. Keep up the excellent work. However, that being said, I started your bible study of John today and watched one video after the other. About halfway thru, I turned the video off and was a bit frustrated. When I do a bible study, I need time to process my thoughts simultaneously with hearing you? I went off, poured a cup of coffee, and had a breakthrough idea. Came back to the desk, qued up your video, and changed the playback speed to .75. That solved my issue. If another person had the same problem I did, this might also work for them. I'm a slow hearer, it seems, lol.

I get totally lost if there is too much highlighting, circling, etc. It distracts me rather than helps me. I underline verses that stand out, highlight with crayons because they don't bleed through and just read without all the side trips.

ok ok ok hold on there Faith!!! The 2 volume set of The Bible Knowledge commentary is not the junk drawer! I am trying to save up the money to buy them. Bible Hub doesn't use them and unfortunately, I can't purchase the Tyndale Bible Dictionary either as it is no longer available. In my area, we do not have a discount Bible Store, and even looking on Thrift Books it isn't available. I feel like using Bible Hub I am running to catch up but I'm using less than satisfactory materials to do my Bible studies with You. I'm trying and doing the best I can. As soon as I can I plan to purchase Your Bible cliff notes and take your Bible Boot Camp.

I homeschool my 3 kiddos and I have not been able to find something I can do with them where we are in the Bible every day and making it meaningful. Do you know of some program or curriculum that I can go through with them so they can get the whole meta narrative ?

I love going through the Westminster Shorter Catechism (Questions and answers about tenants of the faith) with my boys, and there are children's versions, but I find it most fruitful if I reword them myself and make up hand motions/songs to help us memorize them together. Then everyday, when we are getting ready and doing hair/brushing teeth (or in the car if we were rushing getting ready) we do them together and its been a wonderful bonding experience to learn them together and a helpful pattern to do them everyday!

I wonder how common the ancient Greek philosphers were to John’s audience. I’m certain Paul would’ve been familiar, but whether John and his audience were, I’m not sure. Either way, the witness concept reminded me of Plato’s allegory of the cave where people are stuck inside a cave and can only see shadows of the outside world. They have no concept of what the true light is outside, they can only see the reflection until someone from the outside comes as a witness to testify about the light.

What do you do when you were raised in church and you spent your whole life running but you were finally in a good place with God and you randomly started fighting with your faith. I deal with daily anxiety and fear and doubt. I feel alone, like God can’t hear me. I’m screaming for him to hear me but it’s 5:18am right now and I’m alone, with no faith and no hope. Can’t he see me struggling? Why won’t he send someone? Where is he? And why is it that I’ve suddenly found myself with no friends. What lesson comes from this feeling? And more importantly is it too late for me.

i have found the amplified version of the bible to be helpful with reading through with more understanding since i haven't been able to find a good deal on the new testament bible knowledge commentary yet, it's still almost $60 in canada on amazon (still waiting for a sale) but between the amplified version as well as a few different study bibles even before checking online has been a great help. Even though i don't like the "editor" joyce meyers cause she takes a lot out of context, i do have to say for someone who is not a christian, what she includes in the "battlefield of the mind bible" has actually helped bridge understanding bewteen the bible and also prayer. i still have no idea how the concept of prayer even works or how it is really done so those help too. i still think there are too many that focus on the 'man' rather than the 'spirit' of who yeshua (jesus) was.

What’s really interesting is that John first witnessed of Jesus when he was in the womb…By jumping for joy when Mary (with Jesus in her womb) came to visit John’s mama Elizabeth. John’s witness is unique because he witnesses by the Holy Spirit, not believing by seeing. Then, when he baptized Jesus, does he even know that’s his cousin? He just sees Him and is like, “behold the Lamb of God”… Then later when he is in prison- he sends his disciples to go ask Jesus if He is the One they’re waiting for (he isn’t thinking “oh, is this my cousin that I baptized?” Like, again, does John even know that’s his cousin?) and, once more, without seeing (although He receives Word from the Lord Jesus): the Truth is confirmed. (John being in prison, not being able to see the miracles and works of Jesus himself, I think definitely has multifaceted meaning but is definitely symbolic of us who haven’t seen Jesus on earth with our physical eyes) John’s witness is a Holy Spirit filled/led witness. He was born **before** Christ to even make that witness even more epic! Like, “yo! God is about to move y’all!” The ultimate shot-call!! Only possible by God/ the Holy Spirit. 🔥🔥🔥

In John 1:1-5, the word "light" is not capitalized because it is speaking of John or us believers. But verses 6-8 the word "Light" is capitalized because it speaks of Jesus
