I'm currently studying in Joel so James 4:9 resonated with me in relation to Joel 2: 12-13. In our repentance and prayers, we should return to God mourning for our sins in asking for those things out of selfish ambition and not those things that align with His will. Thank you for your bible studies, Kaci! I really enjoy them all💛😊

What stood out to me was James 4:10 - humble yourself before God he will lift you up. God will lift me up if I humble my self.

James 4:17 is really sticking with me, there are times were i catch myself at work looking at someone who possibly needs help and ignoring or not asking, ill feel bad about it, sometimes ill go back and ask if they need help to try and justify but i feel like im the one people turn to for help and idk how to help them. im gonna try and work on this this week.

There are a couple that stood out to me. First, not only to resist but to simultaneously draw closer to God. Many times have I resisted a temptation without God in the equation. I am getting better as I grow spiritually but still do it at times. The second thing that stood out to me was the sinning by omission. It is easy for me to shrug aside something I am called to do by citing worldly things I'd rather do instead. My biggest excuse is time or rejection. What if my good deeds are rejected by the person I'm helping? What if I don't give glory to God properly? Oh I just don't have time. I justify it away, thinking that my heart is in the right place. Guess we are judged by action not thought.

I loved that in our helplessness we can humble ourselves and he will pour out grace and favor. Rather than be intimidated by not being perfect the trick is to humble ourselves and lean in and he will give us more grace and favor to crush his goals for our lives....the Lord willing. So many gems thankyou!

Good morning from California! 😀 When reading James 4:4, this is my takeaway.. Adultery denotes unfaithfulness and in this sense unfaithfulness to God. We have the example of the Israelites in the Old Testament, who were guilty of spiritual adultery because they were Gods special people at one time yet because of false religious practices that were detestable to God and disobedience, they became unfaithful to him. Apparently some in the congregation at that time were also struggling with unacceptable behavior and attitudes among themselves. There was a failure to love their fellow Christian. Never would we want to become unfaithful to God by allowing bad, worldly ideas and traits to separate us from him. These attitudes make one a friend of the world and thus an enemy of God. Never would we want that!

Thank you so much for this. I read this passage today but the part you spoke about us not getting what we desire because of prayerlessness and carnal desires really amazed me, i know about the part of carnal passions and selfish desires but not the part abut spiritual laziness. This has made me sit up and take responsibility for my growth in Christ through my prayer life. Thank you and God bless. i look forward to hearing more from you, just subbed. xx

I have been asking God for a husband for 30 yrs. So far I don't have one. But, friends that did not ask receive.
@jamiedouville36454 жыл бұрын
Don't fear! trust in God! James talks about us having an obedient faith! We must be doers of the word. Once we show God that we have an obedient faith, you will be able to hear God more clearly. We can not expect God to give us earthly desires! Stop and think about why you want a husband. Is it glorify God or glorify your own desires. I will pray for you that your prayers we answered! If it is the Lord's will it will be done :) God loves you!

@@jamiedouville3645 If a single woman does not ask God for a mate; who should she ask?
@JRduckzfaallt4 жыл бұрын
@@mms8477 you ask God. He gives his children answers and most of the time we don't accept his answers because it's not what we want to hear. Sometimes we are ready but have you ever thought that God is still preparing your future husband for you? A lot of the time we must wait even if it feels like forever because we have to wait on other people to accept the different opportunities God is giving them. There are many stories in the bible where his people had to wait for a LONG time like Sara and Abraham. I hope I am not coming off rude or insincere. We also learn in James about having an obedient faith. We can't expect God to give us what we want if we choose not to trust him. God knows what's best for us even though sometimes we dont know why and that's where faith and trust comes in. I hope you get the answers you pray for and continue to grow in God's word just like me. I am not perfect and I don't know everything. The one thing I do know is my faith in God.
