Agree on the endings of Paul's epistles. If one isn't careful in public reading, it would be easy to just keep reading and make it part of the text. Should be separated as you point out.

Randy, Got my KJV Topaz last week, it is truly amazing!. I love the fresh vibrant text style. For those of us that only read from the KJV, it provides an exquisite layout and font style. Absolutely Beautiful Bible. The KJV is superior to all of the corrupted modern translations, the KJV is truly the Bible of the world, distributed over 6-billion times.

Thanx, Brother Randy. Informative as always. Any suggestions on giant comfort print Red letter NKJV. Leather flex or goatskin. Budget €150. (American ex-pat in Germany, so perhaps the choices are more limited). Also any non-Calvinistic study Bibles you could recommend? Vielen Dank. 🌹🌹🌹

Awesome review Randy! I think I'm about to ask a tough question 😌. Which would you prefer between this Topaz, the Allan 52, the Schuyler Canterbury, and the Cambridge Turquoise? I only want to buy 1 premium Bible and my number 1 thing is readability, something that's easy to read for hours without fatigue and I also want something that's not too bulky.
@BibleBuyingGuide
@BibleBuyingGuide 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Kenny! And, yes, that's a tough question. Between these 4, I'd say the Allan 52 and Turquoise are less readable because of the self pronouncing marks and bold hot metal press typefaces. Both the Topaz and Canterbury are highly readable and neither are too bulky. The Topaz is slightly less bulky. The Canterbury has a nicer layout for Psalms. Its section headings and drop caps could be distracting, though. If you find section headings distracting, then the Topaz would be a better option. I do like that the Canterbury has a glossary and pages in the back for notes. The margin space in the Topaz gives you room on most pages for your own notes. I'd choose based on section headings vs footnotes, and glossary vs wider margins.

Thanks Kimmy! It doesn't really bother me to not have them. They're not my favorite way to mark paragraphs anyway. I'd rather see the first verse indented extra or have a space between the verses to indicate paragraphs. Section headings are good too if they break the paragraphs well.

I am trying to choose between the brown calf split and the green goatskin. I like the ribbons in the goatskin much better. I have a green Cameo and a blue Turquoise. I have a black calf split and a black goatskin Concord. The calf split is good and durable feeling. There is about a 67 dollar difference between the brown calf split and the green goatskin. Would you consider it worth the difference in price?
@BibleBuyingGuide
@BibleBuyingGuide 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Rick. The goatskin is more durable and will last a lot longer. I'd consider it to be worth the extra cost. With that said, I prefer a stiffer cover and I like how the calf split lies open. It's flatter than the goatskin.

Hi Randy! Which do you prefer between the Topaz and the Turquoise? I'm having a tough time choosing 😅. I do like modern fonts more, like the ones in the Clarion and the Humble Lamb. I'm looking for a KJV with references and the translator's notes, and I want the font to be readable and a good size to read for many hours without fatigue. The Clarion is a bit too small for me and the Humble Lamb is good but it's just too thick. I like to hold my Bible in my hands when reading. The font on the topaz seems smaller than the turquoise from the video? Many thanks in advance!
@BibleBuyingGuide
@BibleBuyingGuide 2 жыл бұрын
Hi! I recommend the Topaz. It's much easier to read for long periods of time. The font is actually the same size, but it looks smaller at a glance because the letters are slightly thinner. The upper case letters are the same height, but the lower case letters are actually taller than the Turquoise. The typeface is still dark, but it's not so bold that it strains my eyes if I read for too long. It doesn't have pronunciation marks, so the text is a lot cleaner. Also, the spacing between the words is a lot better. The Turquoise was typeset by hand 100 years ago and they used the squishthewordstogether method to save space on the page.

Being 28 GSM, do you think marginal notes and underlining would bleed through easily? Came across this dark green Topaz and considering this instead of the Canterbury. Your thoughts are appreciated!

Use a thin pen like a Pigma Micron, a fine point ballpoint, gel highlighters, and/or pencils. I prefer and recommend pencils because they never fade and they never bleed through.

In regards to the strangeness of adding the Cambridge KJV epistle notes to the last verse of an epistle, is it only present in the writings of Paul? Or is it present through the entire NT and also the Old? I really want to get a Topaz but this type of strangeness I find to be deeply wrong and it's been holding me back. Otherwise I love the concept of the font, layout, etc. I could easily see it being my daily reader had it not this funny business. I am thinking it won't be so bad if it's only in Paul's epistles, but if it's everywhere else I might as well just go with a Turquoise. I would love a more modern approach like Topaz though :(
