Humankind's story is so intricate and interconnected. It blows my mind how God has done this and continues to do so in our lives. I'm thankful that He's in control of it all

@NICK COIN Well yeah, if you are the Creator of something, you kind of have the final word right? If you bake a cake you can smash it, you can eat it, whatever you want. Kind of the perk of being God. He can do what He wants.
@dyerseve07
@dyerseve07 5 жыл бұрын
@NICK COIN I just did. As above. He created everything and has the ability to do with it as He wills. Can a creation judge a creator? It is not blindly, He has proven Himself. The thing is, you have to ACTUALLY read the Bible to understand Him. You have to try, with an open heart. Your issues seems to be that you are picking apart things you do not need to and also that you have quite a bit of presuppositions. If you believe that God is not proper with what He wants to do, or if you do not believe in Him, they why are you here? Are you actually trying to understand Him and His word? Or are you poking at a bear that you haven't tried to understand?
@dyerseve07
@dyerseve07 5 жыл бұрын
@NICK COIN I did answer it. Again, He created everything and has the final say. If He desires to destroy something (the flood in Genesis for example) He can. I mean this sincerely, but how can you not see or understand that? God does not need my, nor any man's justification for His actions. If I watch you make a cake and you step on it, why is it my concern what you do with your creation? I may question it, but ultimately that is YOUR cake to do what YOU wish. You are picking parts of the Bible again, I understand your concern with wondering parts, but at the same time, from an intellectual standpoint (as you mention we need to trade), would you think God is worth believing if you could FULLY understand Him? If you could fit every aspect about God in your 3 pound brain, He wouldn't be worth worshiping. You are swapping the fact that God as full dominion over His creation with what you deem as cruel without first reading before and after the verses you 'al a carte' to make some kind of point, but not trying to understand, again by reading before and after those verses, why God made those decisions. I would suggest you try reading the whole book of Hosea and see why He made that statement. Taking pieces and parts of something is not a good soapbox to stand on.
@dyerseve07
@dyerseve07 5 жыл бұрын
@NICK COIN When you assume and judge someone you do not know, that's not a good start. I would suggest rereading what I wrote and try a bit more to understand. Instead of hurling insults, why not retort back with more proof, or facts. You are using 1 verse. 1. Single. If that is your only basis of making God out to be an evil entity that you apparently are holding a big grudge toward, then there is no convincing you of anything. You are making me do just as Jesus stated in Matthew 10:14 when he stated: "And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.". It's obvious you are not trying to understand, but are stuck in your ways. If you ever would like to have a true, in depth conversation (as I've tried to have here), please feel free to message me.

I've been teaching a course on the book of Jeremiah at Johnson University (Knoxville, TN) for the last several years. What a difficult, yet profound and powerful book! You guys summarized it really well for the most part. My main regret about your video is that you don't really comment on the section often referred to as Jeremiah's "Laments" or "Confessions" (from about chapter 11 through chapter 20). This section, which culminates in Jeremiah cursing the day he was born, gives us insight into the heart of Jeremiah as he wrestles with his prophetic task. I think this material is one of the standout contributions of the book, laying bare the heart of the prophet to an extent that is seldom seen in the prophetic corpus. I see this material as crucial for challenging God's people to greater heights and depths of service, and reminding them of the difficulties and sacrifices that are often involved in this service. God bless your continued work!
@FatNinjaL33T
@FatNinjaL33T 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment. That's actually really relatable and reveals a lot about the prophets. I had seldom thought of them as just people after all, because one would be led to think that a literal chosen prophet of God would never have a single doubt in his mind. I think it makes me look a bit differently at my own struggles.

NICK COIN KJV isn’t an accurate reading. The word Ra in Hebrew is a word of many uses depending on the context. It can mean evil, bad, doom, calamity, negativity, even sadness. Given that this is Hebrew poetry, opposites are used to play off each other frequently. In this case, it is used in opposition of Shalom (peace, wholeness of being), so context and grammar should lead to a translation of “discord”, “doom”, or “calamity”. You’re making the same mistake of plucking a verse from a passage devoid of its context that fundamentalists make. Looking at the surrounding verses, the prophet is addressing Cyrus, the Persian King who allowed Israel to return and rebuild their temple. The passage is a reminder that his exploits and feats are because God make it easy for him and allowed it because he wants it to happen. He’s reminding him that he could fall to disaster any time because Cyrus controls very little by comparison and that if he trends towards injustice, then “ra” will follow him.

Jeremiah 29:11 🔥 ~ This is what the Lord says: “You will be in Babylon for seventy years. But then I will come and do for you all the good things I have promised, and I will bring you home again. 11 For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. 12 In those days when you pray, I will listen. 13 If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me. 14 I will be found by you,” says the Lord. “I will end your captivity and restore your fortunes. I will gather you out of the nations where I sent you and will bring you home again to your own land

And WHO is this verse addressed to? Israel. Context is KING. As a believer we can interpret as God is faithful, but we must also like Israel obey God. We prosper by knowing GOD- we have salvation. God promises He will never leave us for forsake us as we go through trails, hardship and persecutions on this vile evil earth. God's plan is His Will, which we understand better from reading God's Word and surrendering to the promptings of the Holy Spirit.

At the beginning of my coming to know Jesus, when I finally started listening, I came to an understanding of all the sins I was committing, I saw that my soul was like a bucket with holes in it and I kept indulging in EARTHLY rivers and was unable to stay full, no matter how much I tried, everything was fleeting and I was always left EMPTY It was beautiful to then read Jeremiah and see For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me, the fountain of the living waters, and hewn themselves cisterns - broken cisterns that can hold no water It was all because I lost my first love!! It was because I had forgotten my god in myself Now all I want is to regain, grow and strengthen that relationship!! A child will not be obedient to his parents if there is no love!

Thank you for your incredible videos . I am a Jew and every year during the the Services at the Synagogue during a holiday called Rosh Hashanah there are portions of the Torah ( The first five books of the Bible ) read out loud to the congregation . The problem is that they are read in the original language and I do not understand Hebrew. Fortunately , it is the same sections that are read every year so the book and verse number are widely available . The main reading is from Genesis , so despite my not understanding the individual words I have always know what is being said . After Genesis are 2 other readings from a different part of the Torah but they are shorter and perceived as “ less important” Since Rosh Hashana is approaching I decided that I finally wanted to understand the content of the second portions read . They are Samuel 1/10 -2:10 and Jeremiah 31:1-31:19 . When I asked Siri for Samuel 1/10 one of the sources listed was your UTube video . I was just about to select a written source because the videos I have seen were either for children or lectures by boring clergy . But for some odd reason I tapped the UTube icon which took me to your offerings . They are excellent !!!!!!! The graphics , the dialogue and the structure of the presentation convey an easy to understand yet still sophisticated and insightful presentation of the material . I am particularly impressed by the fact that the Christian progenitors of these videos presented the Hebrew texts exactly as written w/o any insertion ( express or implied ) of Christian theology. Your presentations are thus wonderful tools to educate and enlighten both Christians and Jews . Please accept my heartfelt gratitude for this .

Hi Rosemary. Have you heard the gospel? I would love to share it with you my friend How many lies have you told, and what do you call someone who lies? Have you ever stolen something, and what do you call someone who steals? Have you ever taken God's name in vain? Jesus said whoever looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery in his heart. Have you ever looked with lust? I have done all 4. I’m not judging you but if you have done these things you’re a lying, thieving, blasphemous adulterer at heart by your own admission. That's only 4 of the 10 commandments and you die in your sin. God is fully just so he will punish every and all sin when he judges us. If he judges you by the moral law, which he will, will you be innocent or guilty? Heaven or Hell? The answer is eternal hell. But God is loving and merciful, he made a way for you to be forgiven. He came down as a man, Jesus Christ and lived a perfect, sinless life. He suffered and died to pay the debt we owe because of sin, so justice is fully done. You and I broke God's law and Jesus paid the fine in his life's blood, being resurrected again 3 days later. God has the payment ready to go for you. What you need to do is repent of your sins - this is recognising you are a sinner deserving God's punishment and turn from your sinful nature [which a person does indeed have, I am not being judgemental] to... trusting in Jesus alone for the forgiveness of your sins. Then God will forgive you, but you must repent and trust. Turn to Jesus and you will be saved. Do you remember on Passover where the Jews in Egypt applied the blood of the lamb by faith to the doorposts so that the angel of death would pass over them. This is what happens with Jesus. By faith, his blood is applied on us so that we will have eternal life. John 14:6 - Jesus answered, "I am the way, the truth and the life. No-one comes to the Father except through me." May God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace. Amen.

The macrocosm of the O.T is manifesting as the microcosm in this age. Example: Fornication, adultery and Idolatry. Porn is one big Asthoreth that rules the western world like an epidemic, where the worship of Ashtoreth is greater than the worship of Christ. Once the nations' sins will come to fruition, so does the wrath and judgement of God.

The prophetic books are my favorite and perfect for those who love puzzles, mystery, suspense etc. I read the whole book of Isaiah connecting so much of the scattered pieces in the Bible along with the book of Psalms which is also filled of tons of prophecy and the character of God and his ultimate plans. The rest of the prophetic books all do a good job on connecting things together And then Daniel and Revelation basically the last of the prophetic books literally REVEALS everything in the past prophetic books that were still pretty vague and were sealed of understanding until our world Today could unseal it. The Bible literally is the best book series of all time. I really appreciate this book for just the keys to life it contains the hope, the warnings, the prophecy and songs and the gospels and letters to churches. All these genres in a series written over a long period. Anyways, I am studying the book Jeremiah part of my bible reading journey from front to end (this is my second time reading it) and I felt very emotional reading this. I could relate a lot with Jeremiah and just the fact that he didn’t have human support and being alone and found comfort in God was very touching but also sad that humanity is just so easily deceived by almost anything. Like herd mentalities you know? Very sad indeed I could definitely feel where he was coming from

Herd mentality seems like you lump people and judge them. I can get got caught in that trap but we must be careful not to judge others relationships with God bc we don't know what they've gone through nor our experience differs and only GOD knows us all. Likewise...I see so many Christians judging via political selections and Jesus was no part of political gains in his day. The books are meant for us to judge and compare ourselves and not others.

I really love jerimiahs words. Even tho the prophiecies were directly from God. But I REALLY love this passage: "But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people." Beautiful!

Yes!!! The entire bible is a story of the love of God culminating in giving up His son for sinners. From Genesis the love of God chases mankind through history and the prophets and leads up to Jesus. We see the love of God for us in John 3.16. Everything God did and still does is out of love for us.

When you hear and read about the word guard your hearts and minds. For it is deep in your spirit that allows for you stay faithful and understanding of what the word of God is revealing on to you you may stumble and may fall but God is always faithful and he will Remain the same and will stay at your side when things get hard and you go through life itself. But keep doing good and remember God is able.. Remember your life is not your own and your body is the temple... continue to read on.. I thank the Lord for he is the way,the truth, and life. Remember who you really are. Im just another person, human, .... messenger. God bless you all. Seek and you shall find. Keep seeking after his word and truth.. Shalom

as a chronic backslider who understands the times we are in the last few days i have been drawn to Thessalonians and Isiah and now Jeremiah- all the answers i have needed to comfort me to understand the mysteries and the times we are in seems apt. weird but i don't need to analyse. We are in the last days and hope for the future is definitely what many of us need right now

I believe that, like any other country, Israel has good and bad people. It's the government committing the atrocities, but which government hasn't been sinful? The Indian government, American government, English monarchy, and many more establishments are guilty of genocide, fraud, and spreading fallacies. Allah is merciful. Surely, if the bad people of Israel repent, He will forgive them. At least idolatry is no longer a common practice. As Jeremiah said, "God will never abandon His people". There is always hope for God's forgiveness as long as one is alive.

The more I read the Bible, the more I realize how God cups his hands over us to protect us from the world and our mistakes. I always thought that all bad things that happen to us was God directly punishing us. But the more I read, the more I realize bad things happen to us mainly because God temporarily released his protection or allows us to have what we want.

man i totally forgot about God's Righteous wrath in a cup, thanks guys i watch your videos correspondently with my bible chapters, as you can tell i am starting Jeremiah and boy i tell you without the scryptures i would forget God's Holiness over just a couple days. its that bad for me...The world is too strong. I don't even waste time watching movies that don't glorify God anymore in some way because every little thing i'm exposed to either edifies me as a saint or tears me down as a blasphemer. and boy i tell ya it feels good to be saint...

I love the part that says they LOVE DISHONESTY. Not just that they were dishonest but that they loved it. Why? Because when you throw off the restraint of truth, you have leverage. You can manipulate, con, and control. You see this in modern propaganda, politics, memes, and such. Selah.

Picked up my Bible. In my den among the books is the Bible. Going through difficult times I have prayed. It occurred to me to pick up the bible open any portion, place my finger. Read the information and see if it speaks to me in any way. The finger landed on Jeremiah 12. Very sobering reading. It described much of my fears about the state of affairs today. In the end if we Head down power forward there is hope for the future . Note to self. Do not anger God

I wouldn’t say it’s a “little glimmer of hope” but the mortar to our bricks on modern life that we are in fact living in the book of Jeremiah and we will see a full circle soon, nations will fall, churches will rebel, but Israel will stand strong in the hardest moments in life and Gods people will be closer than ever to God. God will let his people go. P.s. I didn’t know how to explain what I was trying to say and I let God give me the words and I have to say I sound like a poet! Omg it’s amazing what God can do, Gods word in modern day just show how close we are to witnessing the fall of our nations. God is coming soon. Be proud and fear not, we will be saved.
