The story of Hosea and Gomer is a miserable one, at least peripherally. But it is one of the best love stories ever been told. The pain, agony and shame involved in dealing with an unfaithful spouse in an emotion everyone can relate with. Through this immense story God is allowing Hosea (also us) to not only know, but also feel His heart. Praise be to HIM, our sins they are many, (but) HIS mercy is more.

This was the first Bible story I was guided to when I was called towards God. Thats the only way to describe the experience. Called to follow Him, listen to His word, take note, learn, understand that what is played out in the Bible is a reflection of my life on Earth. I was introduced to the story at the beginning of a relationship. The said person not religious or spritual but I was told to have faith and not fear. Id never heard words spritualy spoken to me so I just joined a Bible study. Following this I received 3 messages 1. The man who had the least had the most. 2. Don't lose yourself to him find yourself through him. 3. Everything will be OK. Ill be ok. There have been so many memorable moments since meeting this guy and getting closer to God that Ive never experienced before.I feel like God is speaking to me. Guided to live in love and not fear. Not in my head but through my heart. Its weird when it's new to you, yet its not weird at all. I remember meditating and receiving Bible versus and I'll look them up and WOW!!! Oh yes and to love those who are difficult to love. Thats what Hosea was called to do but Lord I dont know if I can do it just like Hosea. Its confirmation or a synchronisation of my journey/story so far. This story is not only a reflection of my individual journey before I met the guy. I see myself not only in Gomer and Hosea character but in the characters that don't listen to Hosea. The earthly relationship between Hosea and Gomer showed me a new love for myself the guy and of course God. I don't know or understand what is happening to and for me, spirituality and earthly but Im going to try and have that Faith God told me about at the beginning of the journey 💖

The main point I learned from this overview is that the books of the prophets, while originally written for Israel, give us believers a window into heart of God so that we may know him more deeply. As Tim mentioned, the Hebrew for knowing God is rooted relationship. By knowing him more deeply, we will know his love for us and will follow in love for him. Brilliant! Thank you for these lovely summaries of the Bible books. Well done folks! Brilliant illustrations too! How anyone can dislike these (unless they just dislike the Bible) is beyond me! Thanks again. Much appreciated. Please be encouraged in the LORD to continue your work.

you know i listened, and reread about what you said about Jacob, and i think your assessment is utterly wrong. Jacob, obeyed his mother, and he obeyed the will of God given through revelation to his mother. he was not a usurper on his own. he was simply fulfilling Gods prophetic will. shall we mere humans call God evil, by calling his good perfect and acceptable will evil? shall man be more righteous than God? in Hosea 12 i do not see God alluding to "jacobs lying and treachery" but rather, declaring that Jacob, through his effort ( וּבְאוֹנוֹ), had power with God, and God declares that because Jacob sought the Lord with great effort, he had power to prevail. is that not the lesson of the kingdom, to love the Lord thy god with all your heart soul mind and strength? and is that not the promise that if we do, God will let us prevail, and have power (the prayer/power of a righteous man availeth much)? and because Jacob sought the Lord with such effort, God is his memorial, and so dearly loved his children, Israel who were then committing the treachery. Hosea does not give an allusion to treachery by jacob, but a reminder of why God loves Israel so passionately, because we are the children of Abraham, isaac, and jacob (romans 11:28)...

God's dignified sorrow in 'I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness' (Hosea 9:10) always moves me. It is such a tranquil image that conveys both His pain and love.

A while back, the church I was a part of, was doing outreach/visitation, sharing Jesus love door to door. This particular evening brought us an encounter with someone of the Hindu faith. We shared the gospel and explained how they could have eternal life through Christ. At the end we asked the woman if she would like to accept Christ and how she could do this. She exclaimed, "oh yes", followed up with, "I do not wish to offend any god or stir them to anger." It just goes to show, perspective is very important.

I would like to encourage anyone reading through the comments section. If you are experiencing a really shitty marriage, and you are thinking of divorce as the only option, just remember that God didn't give up on Israel when they were unfaithful to him, So don't you give up on your spouse. If God can keep loving you, then you can keep loving your husband or wife.

This is America now. Everything is rotting in front of us, and evil is becoming boldly celebrated, but we still prefer to depend on our logic, nationalism, constitution, and reasoning to save America. And just like Israel, we will find that there is no hope as long as we put our faith in nations, plans, human wisdom, etc. Only repentance of our faithlessness and rebellious independence will position us for salvation.

Jeroboam II was actually successful militarily and the country was prosperous during his rule. Thats what makes the situation more difficult. The people were unrepentant and thought they were safe and indulged themselves. They did as it pleased them. Which became a snare for them.

I feel like Gods heart is shown so beautifully and perfectly in Hosea. His anger, His heartache, His compassion. He’s such a loving Father.. His kindness is intended to lead us to repent. I don’t want to grieve Him at all 😭❤️

America has strayed from God! 🙏 He's punishing us all. Women miscarry more and more these days. God is punishing our children for our sins just as he punished David's son for the sins of his father! (2 Samuel 12:13-19)
