There is increasing research that shows a high carbohydrate diet is actually responsible for cholesterol plaque, not fat. Cholesterol is also very important for brain function and many other organs. It is the small, dense LDL which is bad, but when you eat a low carb diet, the LDL is bigger and fluffier, hence not a problem. Cholesterol is very important to our body. Having a high cholesterol level is not necessarily bad, it's the type of cholesterol which is more important.

I really appreciate the way you put lifestyle (physical as well as spiritual) ahead of medication and council your patients to consider a healthy diet too. I have found that Omega 3 oil supplement an excellent way of addressing the problem of cholesterol as it fulfills 2 rolls (and more) as it keeps the arteries clean and the veins supple allowing the blood to flow freely. 👏👍

It's amazing how many people I know that are on statin's with good cholesterol numbers still have heart attacks, and still have to get surgery for heart bypass. You can't pill your way out of a bad diet.

My husband had 2 stents placed for two 99% blocked arteries in 2012. He then went on a low fat whole plant based diet. In 2015, a nuclear stress test showed no heart disease. His total cholesterol is 124 and with no prescriptions. He takes two berberine, 1 red yeast rice, and coq10 daily... No statins, no blood pressure meds, no beta blockers. We take brisk walks together and he has no heart symptoms.

My husband just had a stent placed - surviving the “Widow-Maker” heart attack. His cardiologist stated that the only diet he is aware of that proves to heal cardiac issues is the WFPB (plant based). Dr Esselstyn’s studies and diet were mentioned. Thanks for your information and kudos to your husband for doing what it takes to be well.

I was given a statin to lower my cholesterol. After 3 weeks of taking it I broke out in a rash literally all over my body. I went back to the doctor he took me off the statin. My cholesterol was total 216, after I got off the statin , went to a completely vegan, vegetarian diet my cholesterol after 8 months my total numbers were 185. You CAN lower it naturally and is the healthy way to do It.

how about treating the cause instead of shutting down cholesterol production in the liver to lower cholesterol? How about looking at what is causing the high cholesterol? BTW: LDL is not the issue. The issue is oxidised LDL. What causes that? how about treating that? Too many doctors still following 30 years old "science". Do you know that depending on a persons diet the cholesterol level changes ? (i.e. more carbs or more fat). high carb diet may kill you with inflamation and early cancer and yet your cholesterol may be low, whereas a high healthy fat diet may increase cholesterol as the body uses it to transport the fat. Calcium deposits in the veins/heart valves is a bigger issue and it is killing people at pandemic levels each year. How about looking at what causes that? hint: Low vit K2 is a good start. Statins stop/lower cholesterol natural production in the liver. Besides cholesterol it stops co-Q10 and testosterone production. Co-Q10 is an anti-oxidant. Co-Q10 takes oxygen inside the mitochondria in the cells to produce energy. If cells run low in oxygen/energy they can become cancer cells, which rely on fermentation instead of oxygen breathing. What feeds cancer cells? sugar. What a recipe for a disaster. How is health in our society today? statin and other commitee ideas have failed so many, besides raising sugar and making more and more pre-diabetic or even type 2 diabetics. Time to go back to health producing natural habits instead of drugs to regulate things in the body to fit under an imaginary number someone decides to use and change as years go by. We have a healer already inside of us, given by the Creator. All we need is to feed it what God created and not what the industrial food complex produces.

Dear didyouknow Very well said! Most Drs aren’t even aware of this. (Dr Ken Berry MD wrote a book. “Lies My Doctor Told Me”.)It’s very good & informative. Also Statins rob the brain of Cholesterol,causing Dementia. Dr Berry’s book says what you said.

My lDL is 243and Total Cholesterol is 327. I have explained to my Cardiologist, that I’ve been on Ketogenic diet for 2 years,and this is known as a Hyper Responder. I’ve been on statins in the past. (I’m an otherwise healthy 75 year old female). I’ve tried 3 Statins. They all gave me terrible muscle aches. I’m going to try your plant base diet. I thank you for this video. It's important to mention why cholesterol sticks to arterial walls,it is bodies internal bandage to help repair damage to arterial walls caused by circulating oxidative free radicals which comes from continuing consumption of inapropriate processed and preserved foods,unfortunately continuing the same diet causes more damage which follows more accumulating self repair,which lead to inevitable blockages of blood flow,hence heart attacks and strokes,God bless

Thanks for you input. I too have high cholesterol but not other health issues. I know also that the liver makes cholesterol. Barring any cholesterol due to diet, isn't it fair to assume that the liver is making more cholesterol as "it" sees the need (by God's design"? Also you did not talk about arterial calcification being another cause of heart attacks and the benefits of K2 supplementation to reduce heart attacks due to this condition. I feel that, for your last patient, you could have recommended that she get a Coronary Calcium Score test done before resorting to a Statin drug. God Bless

I just can't imagine that cholesterol lowering drugs are doing the brain any good since the brain requires cholesterol. Also, the production of vitamin D in the body requires cholesterol (the molecule name is cholecalciferol). Statins are over-prescribed according to Dr. Sinatra, he only prescribes them under specific set of conditions. People in their 30's with no heart disease are getting prescribed statins for basically the rest of their lives. Oh, and without the addition of CoQ10 the heart muscle is being directly harmed by statins, which is incredibly ironic, and complete insanity that there's no plan whatsoever to get people OFF the medications.
@pennybrown677
@pennybrown677 4 ай бұрын
He needs an anti-histamine that doesn't cause drowsiness - they are some. Also, check the dose of Crestor. The side effects are dose related and Dr Attia says no one - or hardly no one - needs to be on high dose since you can get 80% of the total benefit at the very lowest dose.

Years ago my doctor prescribed a statin. I asked how long will I need it? The rest of your life was her answer. I went home and looked up the possible effects. Big pharma stopped looking for cures many years ago and now only creates lifelong drugs. I threw the medicine in a drawer and changed my diet, started eating healthier, cleaner, exercising more. My next checkup the doctor says you're cholesterol looks great. The statin is doing it's job. I told her "well.. surprise, but I never took it. Didn't want it. Refuse to be on a lifetime medication if I can avoid it. I just changed my diet " she said "well okay then keep it up. Is working"

A friend told me that statins can have very negative side effects & what most drs don't tell people is that even if you have high LDL, it's the HDL number that really matters. I've had 260 LDL for over 6 yrs & I'm still here. I just need to do a plant based diet with low carb diet along with vitamin k as well as others & start exercising. My cholesterol levels are genetic. I suggest following Dr. Sinatra who wrote a book called The Great Cholesterol Myth. He only recommends statins to people over 50 with heart disease, and definitely supplement with CoQ10 or get it from foods like liver, heart and egg yolks (there are dessicated liver/heart supplements if eating organs is too much to handle).

I couldn't disagree more. High insulin levels cause problems from a high carb diet. LOW carb diet, and then regain proper liver function. High triglyceride levels are the clear indicator of improper liver function. Fatty Liver. Low carb, will help heal fatty liver, pancreas and reduce insulin levels. Go low carb and watch your health greatly improve. Avoid grains, sugar in any form, alcohol and TOXIC vegetable oils. Takes courage to change. Good quality butter is your friend.

Has anyone thought of hemp seed oil in Capsule form. Just a year ago I was in hospital for a slight stroke. I was talking with a nurse who was looking after me and we got talking about statins and then she said to me that she took 2 hemp seed oil capsules every day for her cholesterol. She also said that I should get onto having an avocado every day because their loaded with the good cholesterol.

You are the ONE doctor that talks about alternatives to medication; most doctors would go with the meds and be happy to feed the pharmaceuticals’ pockets for the life duration of the patients. Additionally, the level of cholesterol considered to be high, was changed few years back, no by new data based in studies, but by the means of a meeting of some “authority” in the matter and now a higher percentage of the population “needs” the statins. Follow the money and you’ll have the truth.

I'm in UK. When I was about 50 my cholesterol was 5.2 with twice as much good as bad. I was put on statins. My legs were swollen, burned at night and I had to give up my exercise. I ate fresh fruit salad, yoghurt for breakfast, oily fish for lunch and a healthy meal in evening. I tried various statins which didn't suit me. Then Ezitimbe. I ended up in the cardiac unit. I was taken off nicotinic acid as at 750 my I was getting stomach pain. About 3 yrs ago I was persuaded to try Crestor, 1 or 2 a week leading up to everyday. Well on the occasion I took them everyday I couldn't walk, get dressed or do anything but fall asleep so I stuck to 1 or 2 a week. I thought that I had altzheimers my memory is so bad, I've not been for a walk since Christmas I'm so stiff and desperately tired I fall asleep crocheting. My stomach is dreadful especially middle top. I've let everything go. I was always busy and couldn't switch my brain off and now I can't switch my brain or my body on. I'm desperately depressed. A shadow of my former self. I spoke to my clinical pharmacist a week ago who has told me to come off them and have blood tests including one for liver damage. I'm a Christian and would rather die than live my life incapacitated. I care for my mum who has altzheimers and I'm just so exhausted all of the time I resent having to drive there all of the time and having phone calls. All because I'm overwhelmed with side effects. My hands and arms don't even work right so crafting has gone out of the window.. I don't know what the next step is but I can't take statins again. I had a healthy lifestyle despite my cholesterol but now it's all gone out of the window. I've had bad side effects with other drugs and I'm told by the clinical pharmacist that it's my metabolism but I think that the doctor's think I'm a hypochondriac. What's next? I ask myself

I have read several doctors say that the real issue is not cholesterol but inflammation. I have reduced this greatly in my body through special treatment and diet. No more red meat, selective foods that do not raise inflammation, moderate partaking of those that can affect inflammation. Also, alot of walking at least 3-5 times per week of an hour, going up and down hills. Can i drop my statin now - 20mg crestor - or decrease it by half? I get painful muscle cramps in my thighs most nights, and even some pain in my hip joints. Many thanks

It may have raised as a result of your cells releasing the LDL that they have stored. It should go back down. Your liver I believe it is, is flushing it out so to speak. If your HDL is high then it will cover the temporary higher LDL. I hope all that made sense.

TO REMOVE FATS AND FATTY TOXINS LIKE NITRATES FROM GI SYSTEM BETTER. - Research "Enterohepatic Circulation System.". THIS WORKS. I DROPPED TWENTY POINTS OF LDL CHOLESTEROL IN TWO/2 MONTHS!! BUT I ALSO • DRANK GOOD WATER a gallon a day. • NO SUGAR or EXCESS CARBS. (IN FACT I JUST GAVE UP CARBS OTHER THAN BEANS.) •.ANIMAL PROTEIN DAILY. LEAN. MEAT, POULTRY, SEAFOOD, FISH, OR EGGS. • NO ALCOHOL OR DRUGS • STOP CAFFEINE! Gradually. IT JOLTS all your systems and makes you hungry. • Aerobic exercise not needed. Walking more is good. • SLEEEEP! 8-9 HOURS A DAY, NOT NECESSARY TO DO ALL TOGETHER. • LEARN TO CONTROL YOUR STRESS REACTIONS. I SOUGHT THE LORD JESUS. You CAN KNOW you have eternal life! 1 JOHN 5:13 It can't be earned by religious deeds or baptism or "doing more good than bad" Ephesians 2:8-9 • Romans 3:23 • Romans 6:23 • Romans 5:8 or John 3:16 and then • Romans 10:9-10 💜🤍💜
