Although I have dumbbells, I don’t use them as of now. When I start my planche training soon I’ll definitely make sure to include some bicep conditioning. Unrelated but just wanted to say I got my first muscle up this week. I had tried for a while to get it but only once I stepped back and focused solely on the basics for 3-4 months, being the inverted row, I automatically unlocked this skill. Thanks a lot for your advice, it really works :3

Yeah 100%! You'll be surprised how much weights can support with Calisthenics goals. And HUGE CONGRATULATIONS on your muscle up!! I know that first time getting over the bar is a massive thrill so good for you on taking your ego out and taking that step back! Big things coming for you now, I'm sure 💪🏿🔥

I was having a think earlier about why I love your content so much and it is that you clearly have the heart of a teacher. Watching your earlier videos and seeing where you've come from when you could barely do an l-sit to now shows that you've learned with us. I was just watching your back lever vlog and that pointed me to this video and I know for a fact that I would have injured myself if I hadn't watched it because my skin the cat felt like my bicep would tear off! Please keep making videos man!

Doing slow chin-ups with a dead hang between does a good job with biceps as a double duty. People forget how much strength it takes to prevent a joint from over-extensing. Science has found that tension right at the end of travel seems to be the most effective builder of muscle strength. Even passive tension right at the end of motion can make the body build strength to resist they force better in the future, like if you were to run with weak calves, they would be extra motivated to grow so that you don't wreck your ankle.

another option is to do incline curls on a low incline like 30 or 45 degrees depending on your flexibility, so your shoulder has to mantain a flexion moment arm to not extend past end range
@CaliToTheCrowd
@CaliToTheCrowd 7 ай бұрын
That's similar to what I mentioned about preachers. We want the shoulder to be doing something (not loads, but at least a little work). And you're right. Mobility may play a part in our ability to achieve this. Again, if elbow conditioning is more important for you, then this may be another option. But if you want to condition the bicep at origin AND insertion then we need to make the shoulder work too But if I listed out every option the video would be quite long 😅

I find the rings bicep curls giving the best result and pump! I have been using only rings workout for few weeks now and the difference is huge!

I personally like the rings variation. My tutorial on it highlights why it has crazy benefits for bodyweight athletes, but I also know many people either struggle with or don't want to do the set up for it. At least this way they can get some improvement on current bicep work 👊🏿

Thoughts about Dumbbell Zanetti Presses? Surprised it wasn't mentioned in this video. If bodyweight skills are the end goal and biceps muscle and tendons need to be conditioned, then I think the Zanetti press is the ideal exercise to address both. It's a very scalable exercise as well for all experience levels.

I'm actually a huge fan of the zannetti press! I've used it very regularly in my Planche vlogs 💪🏿 The honest and short answer is it completely skipped my mind - made even more embarrassing that I have a tutorial on it currently scheduled to go live in a couple of weeks! 😅

Hi, Andrew. I like your channel a lot, and everytime I see you demonstrating the exercises I'm impressed by your form. I wonder whether you do any cardio training as well? Cheers!

Hey Rodrigo! First of all, thank you - that's an awesome thing to say. I always make jokes about hating cardio but the fact of the matter is I actually do a lot. First of all, I walk everywhere! My daily step count is usually 15k plus. Secondly, once a week I play football for 90 mins. This also incorporates sprints which has loads benefits in its own right One thing you'll never find me doing is jogging on a treadmill 😅 Are you thinking of dialing up your cardio?

@@CaliToTheCrowd my cardio gravitates around races. About 18 months ago, I started running for fat loss. In the meantime, I managed to run two half-marathons and will be in another one in April. I asked because you have a muscular, well rounded body and it shows that you do some sort of cross training. Anyways keep up the good work. 👍

I think cardio needs to be a part of everybody's movement plans. No point in having big muscles but get out of breath walking up the stairs! But cardio will mean different things to different people. p.s. Great job not one but TWO half-marathons!! Good luck with the one in April, bro!

wouldnt it be even better to just keep the shoulder in like 10-20degrees of flexion while curling
@CaliToTheCrowd
@CaliToTheCrowd 7 ай бұрын
That is a great option, assuming you have the discipline to hold at 10°. What I find is that when you give people this cue, it encourages them to swing in the curl and so the momentum takes away from the tension ( especially in that bottom, fully stretched position.) Again, one for you to decide on 👊🏿
