Lol, toen ik vanochtend vroeg de stoep stond te vegen, en alles nog wit was, dacht ik al dat het een mooie kans was om een sneeuwritje te maken. Je kunt goed zien dat ze de fietspaden weer netjes hebben geveegd en gepekeld. Alleen de overgangen zouden wat netter mogen. En in de binnenstad is het wat meer pappen en nathouden. Mooi filmpje weer.

Sure. Not every municipality cleans their paths as good as in this recent winter ride example. It's also hard to spot or even prevent ijzel/black ice in every bend. Check this reload² of surveillance camera footage from a 90°+ curve behind a car wash, that has adjacent booths where you can spray clean your car. It's near a railway passing tunnel between a large school and a large neighbourhood. The bicycle paths are usually fine, as shown in this video. Of course there's only so much a municipality can do when it's snowing really badly but that only happens a couple of times a year. As for residential streets, they're the worst. I mean the streets that hardly have any traffic on them because it's only really used by the residents of those streets. They don't get cleared of snow and ice and they can get awfully icy, to the point where it's even impossible to walk on them, let alone cycle. People still try it though, even though they're nearly sure they'll fall. It always happens to me during winter. In normal conditions in takes me less than 3 minutes to get out of my residential area, and onto the bicycle paths (and off to school/work), in icy conditions it takes me 10 minutes to do it safely, or 5 to do it unsafely.

there is only so much the salt-sprayers can do and reach within a reasonable time. the snow started during the evening and continued through the night. plus the main cycle ways will be kept snow-free, but it is not possible to service EVERY cyclepath addendum: the paths are damn clean, tbh. every single one has been cleared at least some. the paths around my house were less clean than this, and that did not stop anyone from cycling.
