You made me homesick with youre beautifull pictures of Zeeland, I used to life there. i grew up in the south down the big river and lived in Middelburg also. We retired now and moved to Spain witch is wondefull.

Glad you enjoyed the video, Zeeland is a wonderful place especially for bicycling. Spain is also a great place, we bicycled southern spain years back from Seville to Granada, and spent 4 weeks in Malaga last winter. Check out our videos of bicycling and hiking around the Malaga area. Thanks for watching!

What a lovely video. As a Dutchman I have been to all the provinces but Zeeland. Middelburg is on my list now. Hope you enjoyed your stay in NL.

We really enjoyed our time in the Netherlands. Middelburg is a great little city and we wish we could have spent more time there. When bicycle touring you do not get as much time in each city as one might like, you almost need to spend two nights in each city. Thanks for watching!

Nice video! I was born in Vlissingen now Living in Middelburg, nice to see you enjoying my Area!

We loved Middelburg and wished we could have spent more time there. When doing a bike tour you do not have as much time to enjoy each stop. You almost need to schedule a rest day at each city. Thanks for watching!

Next time you're at 12:50, keep going that way. Sure, it's a bit of a detour, but you'll get the best view of the Westerschelde for a couple of miles, along the boulevard of Vlissingen.
@RichardMooreAndJulieMooreАй бұрын
I had wondered about doing that. Hopefully we can be back for another ride and enjoy that detour. At that point we were ready to find our B&B and get some dinner so the most direct route seemed like the best option. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for posting this, you guys are great ... a really positive attitude to cycling. We had the pleasure of living in the Netherlands in the early 1990s and love to go back. We have cycled the route you followed just about the same time a year earlier, Belgium was surprisingly great the Damse Vaart canal is very special.

Glad you enjoyed it! What was it like to live in the Netherlands? Of course the bicycling would be wonderful, but one always wonders what it would be like to live in a country versus visiting. Thanks for watching!

@@RichardMooreAndJulieMoore We really enjoyed it, we moved there in 1991 because we knew it was great for cycling and started our family there. In many ways I wish we had stayed. I watched the rest of the KZbin clips over the last few days, it looked an amazing trip.

Yikes, you are so lucky with that weather ey? This is a beautiful part of the world.
@RichardMooreAndJulieMoore Жыл бұрын
We were definitely very lucky weatherwise. Three weeks in the Netherlands (7 days bicycling) and we only had 5 days of rain and even then it was not a washout. The Netherlands was such a beautiful country, highly recommended. Thanks for watching.

@@RichardMooreAndJulieMoore I lived there a few years and among others once camp-cycled to Middelburg from the north. How was your interaction with the locals...I imagine mostly fine? You maybe didn't experience this in a short stay, but I found the Dutch to be a peculiar lot...a people who exhibit extremes of benevolence but also a sort of puzzling, entirely unnecessary, gruff, no-nonsense attitude.
@RichardMooreAndJulieMoore Жыл бұрын
We had good interactions with the locals. There is a certain efficiency to life and relationships, but once you engage they are warm and talkative.

Thanks for taking us along on a staycation, i've been there on my motorcycle but got blown all over the road. Zeeland gets VERY windy, check buienradar bf planning your route. Try Southern Netherlands next time, more cover from the elements. Beautiful woodlands, heath and small villages with all the amenities.

We did get very lucky with the weather, and the advice of the tour company to ride south to north in the fall was spot on. The southern Netherlands sounds wonderful. We are hoping to ride from Amsterdam down the Rhine sometime and maybe could include the south. Thanks for watching!

Funny how different the harvesting time can be, harvesting sugar beets ended about 10 days ago here. (east Netherlands)

Seems a bit unusual but maybe based on the application of the beets. Thanks for watching!

On the route from Sluis to Zuidzande you passed my parents house. You have to be a little bit lucky with the weather, but then Zeeland is beautiful, also along the coast 👍

@@RichardMooreAndJulieMoore No you did not, it was just on the road left where you went right at the roundabout to Zuidzande.

Fun! This biking trip is on my bucket list. Did you ship your bikes from Minnesota, or did you rent bikes? BTW, love your channel.

It was a blast, highly recommended. The tour company, Tulip Cycling provided the bicycles, booked the hotels, shuttled our luggage, and the routes. Glad you are enjoying our channel and thanks for watching.

99% of the bicycle riders with a helmet, are tourists 😂
