Peter, that was a great video you had yesterday, most people with expertise do not provide educational videos with details as you do. Hopefully, by posting more videos like that people will stop buying from these fake auctions. I personally have been mainly purchasing Chinese export and Armorial porcelain, because it is much easier to distinguish their authenticity for me.

Peter, with all of the postponed auctions and the dicey Chinese economy, what's your perspective on the auction market going forward? Do you think we'll ever see valuations and prices like in 2011 again? (Asking for a friend with a collection of Imperial porcelain :-) ).

For now it's all up in the air..I suspect it will work it's way out once economies get back to functioning again. Though it might create some buying opportunities in the meantime. Best Peter

can you tell us more about Wanli period and Swatow pieces? like what is so special about them, etc. i agree that they are beautiful, but folkie and even primitive in some ways. don't know anything about them.

Peter, sometimes you miss the fact that things are restored. The Large Catawiki plate was restored which was the reason for the low price.

@@PeterCombs of course I understand. But sometimes that confuses me when I look at the prices. When I than further check I see it is restored, You say it is a good price and I then do not know if it really is. Don't get me wrong, I am a fan of what you do and enjoy your video's a lot.. I am still learning and sometimes these prices confuse me. Thanks Peter !

The initial VOC stand for "Verenigde Oostindische Compagnie." it was a consortium of Dutch traders attempting to build and control as much as possible trade between Asia and Europe and was founded in March of 1602. It is more commonly known as the Dutch East India Company...the FULL formal name translated into English was "United East India Company"..at the time their were numerous East India trading companies from a number of European countries..they had quite a history. Pretty sure the silver box at 27min is Japanese not chinese - it has the Japanese silver mark
