Oh, my! When you pick up fragile items, especially larger lidded items with one hand, I cringe with the thought that you might drop one. I breathe a sigh of relief when you set them down safely. 😆The former owner of this home had many lovely items!

Amazing home! 1890’s or 1990’s items…all are beautiful and classically displayed. The previous owner must have been meticulous in selecting these treasures…and the mirrors, although large, are quite delicate. Thank you for naming and giving us the history on the items.

Good evening, George! That house is fantastic! What kind of lamp was the stained glass one that looked a bit like a weeping willow? I liked it! Those amphora were spectacular! Loved the Royal Dux busts! Geez! Everything there was absolutely splendid! There were excruciatingly few things that didn't fit my tastes. It was actually a bit overwhelming...no way to keep up with all of it. Thanks for the tour!
@TheAntiqueNomad Жыл бұрын
The weeping willow is a newer take on an old Tiffany pattern. That house! The amphora and Dux busts were tremendous, everything was very nice in the way I remember collections in similarly appointed homes I saw early in my career. I knew you would like it all, the big danger is that they might get the auction and then we'll all be broke together!

Very impressive pieces of blue chintz, but I was drawn to the lovely lady in the 'peach' room suspended over the marble pedestal, or was that an ornate ashtray? (3:19 mark) Loved the petite look of the Cameo pattern of dishes (23min mark) The colorful Moorcroft vase was gorgeous!! Thanks for the awesome tour George!!
@TheAntiqueNomad Жыл бұрын
That was something I meant to go back and see closer! I believe it was a 30 year old deco revival statue, and she really was fantastic. The Cameo pattern is part of what set Rosenthal apart in their early years. I love that Moorcroft every time I see it

You might dispute me on this but I think the reason Wedgewood is not so popular is because in all actuality it really doesn't fit anywhere. I have a small which would try that my mother gave to me after a trip to england. Not worth much but when I put it in with a grouping of some of my pretty things it really doesn't fit.

George: Silesia isn't Germany. It's POLAND. It was the part Prussia stole in the 1790s and there were a lot of German-speakers, but in 1919 the Germans gave it back. (my Polish grandfather would crawl out of his grave and chase me if I let that one go by.) I found a what was formerly a nice piece of Herend at an estate sale that was lacework. Unfortunately someone handling it before me wasn't too careful. Darnitt darnitt darnitt.

@@TheAntiqueNomad I meant to say without property taxes ever. Lol. It's great but it's too much house for me. If my daughter and grandchildren would come with me, I would consider it. I love the porcelain greyhounds, by the way.. The thing with Berners is their whopping buyers premium! If you absentee bid there is a fee for that, ends up being about 25%! then taxes and shipping. They seem like nice people. Just saying. Proceed with caution.
