Vaush is abusive to his chat. They want to hear political advice or at least consoling from their favorite political streamer and discuss things with him, and his response to them is “Shut up. You’re incredibly stupid, there’s nothing you can do and here’s a ban.” Then he tells them all to stop being Doomer while being as Doomer as you can get by looking at negative news and saying “you can only watch”. Anyone who tries to bring something, anything up to brainstorm solutions is instantly shut down and chastised by him. It’s sad to see no one is really acknowledging it. Imagine the kind of attitude Vaush has to chat being towards a friend or worse a partner. It’s awful.

I think it's overstating things to compare chatters who Vaush doesn't know personally with friends or family. But otherwise, yes, I agree. Vaush is clearly not handling this last week of developments well, and despite all of his past comments to the contrary, has completely lost hope of a better outcome. And he's taking it out on his chat because he insists on streaming and doomering himself into a hole. (Not that I blame him; things are pretty hopeless right now. But he shouldn't be acting as a political commentator like that.)

He has a parasocial relationship with his chat like with all streamers and like it or not, that is a form of relations and should be treated the same as a relationship with a person when it comes to communication. Which sucks because I genuinely think he has great political instincts for the most part and has a great way of explaining things in a way anyone can understand. So I just mute and then come back after 30 minutes if, god forbid, someone asks him "what do you think I can do to help the state of affairs this country is in?" I even told him in chat a few weeks ago, I said "Look, a lot of these people are younger and they genuinely look up to you. I know it isn't your job to comfort people, but this feels mean spirited to some extent." And he read it out loud and started to get defensive, but then pulled back a bit. My point is that he apparently wants dialogue, but has problems with people asking questions, searching for solutions. He doesn’t want doomers, but makes doomer statements, as well as goes of on people actively trying to not be doomer by asking if there are solutions, which is (at least potentially) a productive thing to ask. If you don’t at least acknowledge the validity of a search for answers as part of the dialogue, the stream can only be considered one big exercise in doomscrolling.
