I've just read the violinist argument with the "person is kidnapped" origin, and I think abortion scenarios can actually have more difficult conditions than that. For example, instead of being kidnapped by nameless violinist lovers you don't know, or going through a car accident you may have caused, you are sometimes pressured by YOUR OWN FAMILY or social circle to get pregnant /hook up to the machine in the first place. In some cases, there are people who WILLINGLY "hook themselves to the violinist" but things go wrong partway through the process that might result in either both mother and fetus being dead or the mother being unable to "hook up to another musician" (get pregnant again). Republicans are sacrificing people's lives in some attempt to control women's sexual behavior and keep them locked in relationships. Abortion should be a right not just for people who want the freedom not to have children but for those who do, because having that choice protects people's health, regardless of the mandates of some stupid religion. Also, the violinist argument ignores the potential context of raising a child after pregnancy, which incurs more expense and duties than that 9 month gestation period. Some people want to be parents but don't want to get pregnant, some want to get pregnant but not be parents, leave people to make that decision (within reason, obviously: the person who doesn't want to be a parent after pregnancy should give a child to a proper caretaker).
