My theory is people don't have money to buy it anymore as part of their normal grocery shopping, so it's sitting longer before being sold or thrown away. I do a lot of salads and I noticed that it's already wilting a lot of times when I buy it. Pre-made salads the same. I'm lucky enough to be on a couple of acres of land and I'm considering investing in a greenhouse and growing my own during the warmer months. Who knows, one day I might need it in retirement.
