Hiked on December 26, 2022. After several days of wind and zero-degree temperatures, it was finally tolerable to get outside and hike! The higher elevations were still pretty windy, so we decided to stay low and hike Bierstadt Lake. This is an excellent hike in the morning since the ridge faces south with great exposure. You will climb about 600 feet in elevation in about one mile before entering the woods at the top of the ridge. From there, it's just a short walk over to Bierstadt Lake. We like the far east side of the lake, which provides the most amazing views of the divide, Ottis, Hallett, and Flattop. It was a great hike in Rocky Mountain National Park!
