Its annoying but if you use proper lane mathematics and have dedicated lanes everywhere they use up the roads pretty evenly. Im at 360K and my traffic is still at 80%. I want Biffa to see my city but I don't really have anything that needs fixing! Might even be as bold to say that he might learn a thing or to from me lol. Something he always misses is increasing the lane count at the intersections. I have learned that if you have say a 4 lane road at a busy 3 or 4 way intersection or an off ramp on a highway to roads. If you upgrade the road to a 6 or even 8 lane and use dedicated lanes, they will pack in so much more cars in the same amount of nodes.

It actually quite easy, my first cities all started out like this. You know how it goes, add a big road in the middle, fixes traffic for while. Then the cities grows and the big road jams. So you build a bypass. When this jams, you build a bypass for the bypass. After a while its gets worse with every bypass, because the junctions come to close to each other. But you dont notice and keep adding bypasses. And then you discover that there is tunnels. :D
@kadxe1877
@kadxe1877 5 жыл бұрын
@@schievel6047 I... I mean no, when something jams I usually just analyze where the fault is, tear it down and try to build a better solution. Sometimes with mixed results but adding more bypasses and stuff never really fixes the problems, it just postpones them to when they are terrifying. :p

To be fair, if this person was approaching the problem anything like how I did when I started playing (and I suspect they were, because the overall result looks a lot like the cities I made at the time), then this spaghetti is the result of several iterations of "I have lots of traffic here. Where is it going? It's going there. Alright, I'll make a connection from here to there. Now I have lots of traffic here. Where is it going? ...". It ultimately kinda works, but it's neither pretty nor efficient and it eventually falls apart.

I am also one year late, but i must say - not only does your giantabout fix the traffic, but it is also disaster-proof! Imagine these poor people, though: My boss: Why are you late for work? Me: Sorry, I live on the other side and i missed the exit on the roundabout... Great content, Biffa, keep it up! 😍

Biffa's reaction to realising there was an underground monster was great! Also... are the majority of the 'connecting roads' that the person added to the spaghetti monster the 20 limit gravel roads, which turn to wooden board roads when elevated?? Assuming that's why nobody is using them, because the speed limit it so low... Reckon just upgrading those to proper highway ramp style roads would've helped a lot!

Oh god is this my city??? Looks so similar, I've been working on the same city for two and a half years and it's so much spaghetti roads. Ever since stumbling upon your channel I've seriously started to clean it up a lot and am sitting between 67% and 79% traffic flow but man I did not put thought into my highways!

The cruise ship nope-ing itself out of there at the end of the video watching the junction go up in flames was honestly the best part of the whole video. And to be clear, I'm not sure how that ship thought it was going to get through all of those overpasses.

One problem: lack of road hierarchy. Absolute pita to fix, best way are those workarounds Biffa uses. Any big change rerouting traffic might break the whole city again. Highway -> Arterial road -> Collector road -> Local road. Always obey this order and traffic will be fine. Break it and you're playing roulette. Maybe it works, probably not. If you act on this, you'll probably end up with some bridges over the river, because only main roads cross it, but no local roads. Looks more real, and leads to better traffic :)

i like the "Worldabout". It serves its purpose quite well. If you have a tunnel across for the main road i think there are 2/3 that join to other side it would work even better. As for the cross junction at the bottom with all that mess you could make that one a single line right through the middle to make the design to look like a cross hair
