Cities Skylines Industries:
In one of the most in-depth expansions in Cities: Skylines history, Industry becomes a larger and more meaningful part of the game with this expansion. Players can customize their industrial areas with supply chains for the four different resource types and unique factories. Well managed industry areas will level up and become more efficient. Aside from production chains, there is a new city service for handling mail and the cargo airport eases import and export of factory goods. I agree. I did the fix-it on this map before I watched the video. My first go around, I tried to just fix it. My second attempt, I just blasted the freeways, installed my own junctions, and rebuilt the inner city with the rule, 6 lanes must go to 4 lanes and then must go to 2 lanes. It worked just fine. Phew! Then I watched the video and kept nodding my head because, Professor Biffa's lectures have worked on my psyche. I crave a sip of tea with each auto-save.

When I watch these videos, I get an urge to demolish half of the city and redesign it all because it's just poorly planned from the beginning. People probably build something similar to what they are used to, forgetting that a lot of cities have terrible traffic.

Anything can be fixed. When I started my city I didn't plan it because I didn't know anything about it. I just expanded it naturaly, like a real city would grow. Low density vilage area turned into high density core of metropolis, then it turned into office/commercial cluster with most people living in the outskirts. Most of industries moved further out as well. My point is, don't destroy your city - evolve it. Pop 95k, traffic always +85% with despawn off. Also, there are 3 roundabouts in the whole city + 1 interchange-about, so take that Biffa! :P

Few videos ago I commented that I was going to start playing Cities and that my traffic would have to be perfect with all your videos that I watched! Of course I made beginners mistakes and it was far from perfect at 20% :( BUT I did manage to fix it with more connections, more options for traffic, metro and just not having EVERYTHING in one spot. Now back up to 80%! Am also working my way through your videos from last year on TahiTea. Getting some great design ideas from that. Thanks for your content and the work you put into it!

I have a 190k population with 4 pairs of outside road connections, mostly high density and have tried three different ways to increase flow above 75 at all times instead of 55. Trouble mainly lies in the lane highway switching where it doesn't make sense to do so. All industry specific, cargo ship, warehouses and rail shipping have their own direct route to highways. The city is called Cuckdale and Cuckdale V2 for testing.

YAY, another city traffic fix!! :D From the highway to any arterial road (main road w/ limited access), a nice elevated roundabout (3 lanes) or one of those dogbones generally works well. But OMG, the industrial areas were situated so almost all their traffic had to pass through the other zones: guaranteed mess! And that river pollution! ARRGH. Avanya's water treatment plant buildings plus a nice, quiet "eco" incinerator (no pollution, takes care of the water treatment plant's garbage) will solve MANY problems!

I was inspired to get C:S during the last big Steam Sale because of this series. And thanks to this series, the traffic in my first city pretty much never went below 80%, even after I installed one of the "buy all 25 tiles" mods and expanded EVERYWHERE. Thank you so much, Biffa! Lane management (time 5:45 in video): why don't you just keep 3 lanes, keeps it realistic and use lane management to control where vehicles go i.e. two outer lanes and block inner. Looks better and gives the same result.. it is more work though. I probably don't make sense :/ Great vids Biffa, but could do with this and a series of building a new map

Depends what you think is realistic. Where I live in Europe what Biffa does is quite normal. Also the extra lane after the merge is used often enough, to allow traffic to have time to merge. The width of the big stretch of highway is always determined by the needed flow and is kept as low as possible to keep costs down. That is your default number of lanes. At any junction lanes are added or removed to keep merging safe and flowing.

The thing is, IRL, lanes are added and subtracted as they exit off or merge on, BUT in CS we don't have those types of built-in road structures (lanes merging onto or off of highways). So we have to work with what we got, and the lane mathematics he uses is the work-around in CS. It also helps with console users, who don't have access to TMPE. The other problem with this in CS is that cars are terrible at lane changing, so having merging lanes would be a nightmare, anyway. CS is not a great game, it's OK, and mods have significantly improved on things, but it has many limitations and issues.

You did a good job, that should help get things going and it has defenitly improved everything. Still a few things to build add so if the player sees that comment here is how.. You got to improve your industry area by prolonging one of the highways and adding another hiwhay junction. From that junction have a big street running right in the middle of the district and connect smaller streets to it to help a good spread of the traffic.

4:49 , that's a typical French junction. Works pretty well in real life, it's less stressful than the english-style big roundabouts as you don't need to pick the right lane on such small roundabouts. Though passengers usually don't like it when they're taken fast 😁

Which is not that bad, because the cargo terminals are a whole problem for them self, if I play with cities from other players, I usually turn them all of and just fix the highway junctions, because trucks are way faster on their way out without those bottlenecking cargo-hubs.

An interesting connection: You drop a round about into the middle of a built up area with no other connections. Got me thinking what if you connected that round about only via raised roads. They could go directly to the centre of the built up area and then exit the round about in the middle of the built up area.
