Hi Biffa! You're right about the "messing with the node" you mentioned at 33:38. And note to everybody who has the same experience: By increasing the corner offset of the node at 4:22, you've decreased the size of the roadsegment of the road where you later placed the traincrossing on. This in turn led to an even shorter roadsegment between the crossing and the adjusted node. Every time a truck enters that piece of road, it blocks the whole segment, giving traffic behind it a signal not to go until that piece of road is free of traffic again. This leads to the pauses you see at 33:12. But you've allready solved it by useing the junction restrictions tool.
@MBeckers3 жыл бұрын
additionally, at 34:05 most traffic stops driving because he did not use the junction restrictions tool to allow vehicles to just drive through. When combined with more/better lane management the issue will mostly go away. His solution of just getting bigger roads does not solve the core of the issue.

Forgive me for chuckling when you: - unlocked a new square to increase your population, and then decided it should be an industrial area. - saw all your shops in the western end of town were importing goods via truck, and then decided the solution was going to be a cargo train station at the literal opposite end of town. It's all good, you clearly know what you're doing, and I like the look of the expansion, particularly the new intersection / on-off-ramp you designed. ^^

30:34 You want the roundabouts to move faster than the roads connected to the roundabouts, to avoid vehicles queueing to use it. Ideally, you would want some tiny T-junctions instead, instead of roundabouts, to avoid slowing down the traffic even more (like you can see a few seconds later, in the video), though that would mean vehicles cannot turn back where they came from. The higher speed also helps offset some of the lost speed caused by slowing down to get into the roundabout. That's why I prefer turbo-interchange junctions instead, because they maximize the drive-through speed, even if they cost more. Higher node distances help with the speed through intersections.

Postal service is a big traffic creator you should try and keep the sorting facilities away from everything else i even tend to get them their own cargo stations/airports to get the post outside. You might want to treat the post sorting facility the way you treat a cargo train station cause once your city grows bigger it will get really busy there.

Right! Excellent episode as always! The empty area where you deleted the industry can be3 an entertainment specialized businesses. To get the purple import down you'll need the general dirty industry. Farming industry don't count for that whether it's the DLC or the zoned version. To get MAX garbage processing numbers you'll need to look where you buy them. The large one don't only process 5000 a week. According to the wiki it processes 192 000 units of garbage. In the new city service industrial park you can place the water treatment plants as they don't care about ground pollution. Watch out for the post as that can get out of hand. There is an internet policy you can use to reduce the amount of mail. Great as always and I really appreciated that you moved the pillar in the highway when you built the new intersection. 😁

One thing I understood recently in industry traffic management is that you can have some warehouses with Industry Specialisation Goods (Farming in your case). They better be near the exit of your farming areas. Then the farming traffic will b constrained within the farming area, and the warehouse trucks will run around the city delivering things.

18:20 - you can get stuff (anything placed at waterfront) much better aligned with the quays if you select some normal 2-lane road (or gravel road), turn off the 'grid snapping' and then place a stretch of the road just next to the quay using the 'road guidelines snapping'. That way you can get the roads to run closer to the quay edge. And with the road next to the quay edge you can then snap buildings which comes with their own roads (harbors, ferry things etc) to that road - getting the buildings close and better aligned with quay edges too. Or alternatively just use MoveIt :).

My thinking on using the Move-It mod to attach the ferry line is, you've done the same thing in the past when a highway connection was just outside city limits, and you would move it inside city limits, edit it, then ctrl-z it back to its previous position. I *suppose* the alternative if you really didn't want to cheat would be to terraform that little peninsula to create some clear water within city limits, because there's no sense buying that entire square just to connect a ferry line. But that would destroy a really pretty piece of landscape, so out of all the options, I really think you chose the best solution.
@MrDarkwing783 жыл бұрын
36:40 The issue with that roundabout is the feeder. You have it so they can turn right from either lane at the roundabout, but the next intersection has a right turn only lane too, so the traffic has to line up in the through lane till there then switch into the right lane at the last moment. Replace a couple of those right turn only lanes with right or through lanes and that will clear everything up there.

When it comes to trains, you really want dedicated intermodal networks. Instead of having your intracity trains going on your main right-of-way track, you should create a whole separate network for passenger service between stations as well as a separate network for cargo. Only connect to the outside main track when you want a station to receive trains from outside your map.

About the cargo train terminal... The way you have set it up, the node comes directly in front of the output of the terminal... So all the cars will only go in one lane And because you have stopped them from switching lanes, they all go into the city You could either remove that node in front of the terminal output, i.e. have the single lane road continue till the next node, or just allow them to change their lane, so that they will take the newly available highway connection to enter the highway
