In my experience the fishing industry is hard to make profitable. All fish types sell for the same amount and all you can do with it is sell it at a fish market or can it in a factory. For the amount of workers that go int it, I don't generally see a good return. I usually just put fishing boats in my cities because they look good.

If you ever run out of space, you can always just remove a bit of mountain you know ;) Also, what I wanted to say for a few episodes now: I don't think your tram line is connected enough to the road beside it. As far as I know, the cims can not cross roads which are beside each other without an intersection. So if I saw it correctly, your cims are only able to jump on the tram where you put that dirt road to the cementery. So you have to put in more crossings or put a little pedestrian road between the two roads. But as you said, "it's my city!" so do as you please and keep the episodes coming, thank you! :)
That shouldn´t be a problem. The edge of the tram tracks count as sidewalks and can connect to the ones from streets afaik.

Wouldn't it be better to use the train for connecting the parts of your city instead of a bus and then shuttly people from the train station to the university? Via Monorail loop or busses? I had a few suggestions on the previous video, guess some don't matter anymore: A few suggestions: - put pedestrian tunnels under your roundabout/park and let the entrence come up about in the middle. Should look interesting and you can't just farm people cutting through. ;) > I like what you did, maybe another time for the tunnels. - a ferry connection starts to look really promising > Kinda surprised that you can't connect unless you own the tiles for the route but I guess it makes sense. As others have suggested, maybe move the coast line or build a canal? You also have the train as an alternative. - yes to a monorail going around the outside of the area > Waiting for it. - if you connect the areas by train (and I think you should), do you think you need to future-proof it by separating cargo and passenger lines? > Your traffic seems to be still low, and your lines will probably be quite linear, so maybe no separation is needed? - You have a really nice spot of sandy beach for a small park area. > It still exists so maybe next time.

One thing I'm noticing with the University line is the way it's currently set up, anyone on the right hand (outbound) side, has to go all the way out and around several districts before finally arriving at the University. That's going to make their trip time very long and probably discourages them from even bothering with the busses at all. You might want to consider doing an interchange just outside of that region and have that line just do a short circuit around that one area and have other feeder lines connect with the rest of your existing lines to bring people in from other parts of the city, so the locals don't have to go on a scenic tour of the city every day just to commute to work/school, but other can still get access to the university via the feeder lines and transferring to the University line. I usually set up my mass transit routes to follow the main roads and connect with other routes that follow other main roads and ridership tends to be very high across most of the network and the people do transfer between routes very readily.

Biffa, one "secret" game mechanic is that the more profit you reap from special zones (Parklife parks, Industries DLC zones, Unique factories, Campus DLC universities) the less income you'll generate from your general taxation (it silently lowers as a sort of balancing mechanism). So build some 5* areas if you really need income and the self-sufficent buildings won't be as much of a bother--that 30% will come out of a much smaller portion of the pie. And if you need students in your university, you should use the Education Boost policy.

I find it MUCH better to just try and balance the farms and such to the manufacturing (flour mills, bakeries...) as they all have small internal warehouses. I rarely use warehouses as they just increase traffic, costs money, and takes up a lot of space. They ONLY time I use warehouses is if one or more of the goods are not made in the area. So if you need say glass, paper, and animal products for something I might put a factory in the farming area and have small warehouses for the paper and glass right next to the factory as those supply trucks are not as regular. Also to manage traffic I focus heavily of subways and crosswalks in high traffic areas. I keep ticket prices down in parks because that helps them grow faster as it is based on people visiting and not income. After the park is maxed out I raise the ticket prices. I also try to have a strong railway system only for goods that connect to the harbor and run between manufacturing and commercial areas. I do like the inner city busses for bringing people into the city because I do not use trains for people transportation. I put a subway right next to it. Also I try to have train depos and harbors and airports on highways... with only one way roads coming in and out. I try to avoid tunnels if I can. I also like to have a small low density residential with some low density commercial near the industrial zones and put no high school in the area to make sure you have the low education workers they need.

Would be cool to terrace one of the mountain sides, maybe in the area near the wind turbine, and have a few rows of high-density housing at different levels. That would be a great opportunity to add the cable cars everyone's been asking for, too, and would 'create' some flat land for building rather than squeezing into the space you already have available.

I hope the ferry lines will and up in a circle, I really hate the boats turning around like they do now. . Springberry hill(or something else) sounds like a nice little district somewhere. Looking forward to the next episode 😊

Biffa, for the Ferry stations you should use the Touch it! Mod to unlock the road and make it consistent with the other roads around it.
@GabrielMartin923 жыл бұрын
Biffa, if the traffic in the roundabout becomes too much with the ped crossings, you could changed all 4 crosswalk lights to one joined timed traffic light so that everyone stops at once and continues on at once.

You should buy the one on the bottom right. You'd be able to connect it to the "Highland District in the middle and bridge or tunnel to the other island.Keep up the content dud! Stay safe

I say you go across to the long island with the open land. You can build a good entertainment district on the inland bay, some good housing and "downtown" commercial zone, a port on the open seaside along with fishing. Looks like there is also space for farming on that island. When you get to building an airport, build an artificial island in the bay like Hong Kong or Kansai or Nagoya international between the tip of the long island and Green Tea park so you can really control the traffic and land use. It could have tunnel train and auto access to the mainland, long island, and highland district along with ferries. Essentially a "Hong Kong" inspired layout.

Get better soon, dear Biffa! And congratulations on YOUR big city

Definitely suggest the tile past the farm. The other island will be cool, but hitting that big flat area in the middle can hook up transport to all your existing networks, so you won't need to create new mass transit links. And word of warning, if you keep knocking down houses, I think City Planner Plays might come and set another Verde Beach fire in New Tealand. :) ... I like to think Verde beach is on the other side of the water, and they keep sending fire imps over...

Your schools have almost no coverage. You need to increase school funding. Then, you won't need so many schools, and have to work so hard to get students to attend them.
@alohatigers11993 жыл бұрын
That’s dumb if you think about it. You increase fundings means you increase the range? In real life, that’s not how that works. If there is a bus line, you should be able to walk to the bus stop, thus go to school EASIER if your house is far away. That’s what I expect the game mechanics to be. The bus stop should be a connector, like the large tower power lines connecting one source of power on one side of the city to other side of the city.
@wavesAndBerms3 жыл бұрын
I’m not exactly sure of the exact mechanism; I just happened to notice something funny when he was placing a school. As I understand it, when you place a school, the roads turn green near the school to show the coverage of the school. I noticed that when Biffa placed a school, only the streets within a couple of blocks or so turned green. It seemed like he has having to place way too more schools in a small neighborhood than I’ve found necessary. When he went to the budget panel, I noticed that the school funding was turned way down. So, I’m not sure whether school funding affects the coverage area, or just the number of students that schools can educate. I hope he takes a look at this, because it would confirm my understanding of it.

Gotta say thank you Biffa. Finally I'm playing some Cities Skylines, and my traffic is soooooo smooth thanks to you.

You should extend your tram line all along the coast by tunnelling under the rocks. Mobility is very important since the city is so stretched out. When you do this, make sure that the Teawis can access it, it seems your current tram line has some problems.

Hey biffa, I already finished my city on this map, yours is looking far better already. About epanding your area on the next episode, I recommend going fo the one bit on the side of your farm, it gives you lots of space for both more industry and houses and easier traffic management of imports and exports with the train line and the highway

Nice way to finish the episode ☺️ If you want to work around the issue to connect your ferry, you could use move it to bypass the area you don't own.

With the water in the middle of your park you now have the ability to place the fishing pier from the park. That pier is one of the best building to up the desirability.

You could maybe change some of the low-rise residential to high rise? But as much as I'd want that ferry line continuing, you should definitely buy that square above the farming industry. You can still create a ferry line on the 'other side' and connect it up later, when you bought that bottom square. In the meantime, they have their feet, bikes, cars, buses and trams available to link the two ferry lines. :D

Idea for the new district name: Chai DenseTea If you want more money and some ideas: - Make an highway interchange at the industry, so they can travel faster and the roads get lesser polluted (more land value) - Make new neighborhoods - Build some cargo stuff for selling and importing stuff - Make sure you putted the right policies in - Make a Cable Car line from Chai to Earl Grey - Make a Campus for students - Put more Unique buildings in (more tourists and land value) - MAKE THE TRAIN DRIVING AGAINST THE NEW DISTRICT I hope it helps!

I had kind of a nerdy/pop culture idea for that big island. If you put an amusement park or zoo there you could name it Tearassic Park as a nod to Jurassic Park
@MsEgwene3 жыл бұрын
Without buying another square you can have the ferry on the other side of the little area where you can't draw a ferry line, connect areas on that side (like residential areas and the farm area), and then have a bus route over that fun mountain pass at the coast just run back and forth between ferries on both sides until a ferry can take over the connection later.

I often build parks in my bigger roundabouts, although it’s a bit noisy on the outer section of the park!
@groningenparanormaal36423 жыл бұрын
I think you need to buy the square with the little island. It gives you a challenge to fit as many people in as you can rather then having plenty of room which to me is kinda easy. Good luck!

Here in DC most of our roundabouts have parks in them! It’s a great way to get neighborhood parklife into the city
@andrewmartyniak6263 жыл бұрын
For the ferries, maybe look at either creating a canal through the peninsular or creating another ferry line on the other side with walking paths/roads connecting each side. Save you purchasing the square then.
