Definitely need a fish market somewhere nearby where people live, with some low density housing and a local produce commercial zone, make it feel like a lovely wee fishing village!

Hey Biffa, you could have placed Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion Plants on the fishermans island to embrace the power of the ocean. I think this would fit better than the three Geothermal Powerplants. edit: And at the ending you put the fishfactories too close to the watertowers so the pollution will slowly sift into your water supply and contaminate everything

Putting a warehouse holding goods near the every district will help the distribution of the goods if there is no industry close to the area. For example in the real life when you enter the city you always see some warehouses from different companies, mostly for the big grocery chains. Also it helps the traffic. I would recommend a slip road every now and then just for warehouses by the highway. Loving the content Biffa keep it going!!

If you want to fish certain types of fishes, change the terrain for anchovies to appear in shallow still waters, while shellfish in deep still ones. Salmon show up in turbulent shallow waters while tuna in deep turbulent ones. Also avoid water pollution as this affects the fish population.

I was thinkin for some areas, like here on the Fishing Island, why not use a Emergency Radio Tower as an Electricity jumper. Both big and Small ones would work and they just add to the Realism to the city

Biffa... that truss bridge you used needs to be a bunch higher. If you look at it, there appears to be a walking path on the lower level of the bridge and the way it sits low over the water right now there's no way to use that. It's gonna get washed over by any agitated waves. Also, the bridge has arches under it, which are currently mostly submerged. That would be a complete maintenance nightmare... As far as decorations and additions go, I'd expect to see some offices on that island as well and you might want to look at sending out the goods via your barges so the trucks don't clog up your roads. Slap a nice monorail for the workers over the water for transit, then add a bunch of fencing to reinforce the industrial look. And some of the open space near the water towers could be used for a large fish market like in Hamburg or Venice.

There is a mod for fish warehousing. Makes it good to warehouse all of the fish, then distribute it to the factories somewhere else because of the pollution. Also have a train station next to any place that has warehouses or factories. i.e. one near your commercial areas with a couple warehouses set to keep goods, and then another train station near the factories and their warehouses which produce the goods. there is the under water rail lines near the island, so it should be easy to pop up a rail line and link it up to the network.

It would be nice if the area across the bridge between the IT Centre and the Fishery Islands is like an old-fashioned fisher village from the last century, with small huts, a fisher market, some nice area for strolling around, having a fish in a fish restaurant. This could be nice to the office workers at the IT disctrict to have their lunch break there. It would then also make sense that the nearby fish industry simply moved across the small strait to set-up there, when the old fishing village became to small. For the people visiting the Japanese district, it could also work really well, as they can have some some tea in the Japanese district and them some Sushi in the old fishing village, freshly caught and prepared on Fishery island.

Adding some farming specialized industry on the island could produce some cool buildings that would tie in quite well with the fishing/food production theme! Plus they can fill tiny gaps in the warehousing! Great build Biffa! :)

Hi Biffa, Regarding the decorations: 1. If you're exporting fish, why not build a cargo port to facilitate the export? 2. Also, why not put a fish market on the island? A direct farmer-to-consumer sort of thing? 3. You could add a post office to the other utilities on the island. 4. How about one of those water pumping storages? Also the pumping trucks depot? 5. And add some parking, too. 6. I liked your idea for adding police and fire helicopters, but I'm not sure there's enough space available. Those are rather large. 7. How about a couple of water pumps instead of the water towers? just for the industrial look. 8. Also one of those eco waste treatment facilities? 9. And if you've still space to spare, you could stick the driver's training facility, a road maintenance facility and maybe another taxi depot? Also, a taxi station. 10. Plus a helipad. 11. Maybe an office building, ostensibly for the industry's managers to work from? 12. How about that wharf mod you've used before? 13. And, of course, barges!!! 14. And maybe a ferry stop. 15, Some industrial looking park or unique building to drive in people, and a couple of commercial buildings - maybe local produce? - to cater to their needs. 16. And finally, a functioning lighthouse (as opposed to the abandoned one) and some maritime radar.

for decoration I think it would be cool to see some craggy cliff faces and big rocks. this island gives me the feeling that it's an inhospitable, weather-beaten rock. I know you worked to level everything out, but I'd love to see you *add* elevation (now that you have the industry kinda sorted out) to see you decorate in that way. You could also finish the key wall as a tight turn, and leave the bit of ground sticking out lower down, possibly extend the low-elevation shore a touch to make it feel a bit more like an estuary, and do the same on the opposing shores. (if there's a muddy ground color sort of asset that could be real cool)

I didn't mention it the other day, but I really like the posh shopping area with the Japanese blooming cherry trees. I was thinking too a nice name might be Howe's Bayou (pronounced like by you) because of the swampy little bay reminiscent of those areas along the Gulf Coast in Louisiana.

The editing on this was fantastic. For decorations id suggest some old shipping yards. Boats up on stilts being worked on, Maybe more shipping containers, some trees would be nice. maybe a monument as you come in. Giant statue to praise the fishing gods

When you added dedicated turning lanes back onto the four-lane road, the one warehouse's vehicles have to circle the one way to be able to get out. There's no node between where they spawn and the junction for them to merge in order to make the turn.

About decorations some abandoned factories would be cool, a market in spite of everything that still brings life, and maybe a few low density offices ? Also, absolutly no trees or flowers of any kind. An highway that would cross the delta would be so cool too with a tiny interchange !! Oh and concrete everywhere on the ground and more color boxes (don'y know the english word) and ye a few places to eat etc. Because workers are hungry after a day in the sea. Also, i thaught that because routes can be so tiny you could maybe add a few more harbores so tat the island becomes very dense !!

If you reconsider a trainline, you can also add a small stop for the workers there. They don't have a way to get to work aside from their cars as it stands. A ferry wouldn't be bad either, if you can fit in between your fishing routes ofc ! Perhaps a few small offices or so. Awesome island !

Oi Biffa, i hope i am not too late, but some pointers about fishing in CS and what to do with the island: First, as you are exporting tons of fishes, you could use a cargo harbour, so the warehouse trucks don't have to go too far. Second, a barge would be nice for the fish goods when you start building fish markets. Also helps with goods themselves. Third, a ferry would be nice so fishermen from far and wide can get in there easily. Lastly, about the type of fish. The type you can catch in each area is dependand on the dept of the water, so you can actually make some place for tunas, as well!

The workers need to eat so few take away stores and restaurants might be good. As well as a few parks spread about for the fisher-folks families (kids) to occupy themselves at while waiting for mum or dad to finish their shifts. I know as a seasonal fishermans son and former deckhand that these are always a good to have close by.

Detailing ideas etc.: - Pop down a district with no highrise buildings. Add offices around the factories, as you'll need some admin. somewhere on the island. Use the marina assets from the various parks etc. to add 'flavour' to the various docks and add a bit of variety to the shoreline.

One thing I thought could be neat on this fisherman island are some low residential homes (like a small town) with schools out to be a fishing village and a fish market within the village and another fish market or two spread throughout the city. Often, you will see massive commercial fishing areas have small towns around them where the fishermen live so that all that they have to do is just walk to work and go out onto their boats to get their jobs done. :)

I really wish you could build an oyster farm, just so we could call it Pearl Grey Island... 😃 Wouldn't the factories consume more fish if they had the workers they need? It looks like they only have half the workers they need, even before you build the additional ones. Also, would a bus line help them get to and from work?

A quick way to set up the warehouse options is just to hover over each of the two drop-down lists and use the scroll-wheel. It will cycle through all of the options and is much faster than clicking, searching. Especially with fish now at the top, it's one scroll motion down rather than 2-clicks.

IRL you'd never fill warehouses with fresh fish (since it stops being fresh after just a few hours). They go off the boat and straight into the factories to get processed more or less immediately. Believe that's why the warehouses will not take fish - it's unrealistic.

The types of fish areas are directly related to the depth of water, so if you lower the seafloor in an area by a bit you should get a tuna-area to fish as well.

For fishing areas I don't give outside road access. I put in a closed road loop with cargo rail. It makes the trucks deliver goods to the rail station and immediately return instead of running goods to export. I place a passenger rail station and a recycling plant with police and fire station to service the area

You would probably need some industrial type buildings on Fish islands, to process the fish into all different commercial goods. Some self-sufficient commercial too, so you can sell the fish locally. Hook it up with a train line for passengers so they can get to fish island too!

Low efficiency is only if the route is too short. If you want tuna you'd need deep moving water, best way to do this is to make a deep spot under water (obviously lol) and use the water creator, set it up so it's below the water line (this will cause water to be drawn towards the spawn point). The area should then turn blue. I tried this on my own city and it works perfectly

Perhaps convert that bridge to a tunnel running under that channel, as you can easily see that is the shipping lane by the buoys and how it lines up with the massive harbor bridge on your interstate. Then add a cargo harbor for ease of distributing the goods.

Biffa, great vid. Your fishing area - Place some down, unlock the road then delete it and then use move it to place them next to each other then draw in a road!!! Save you loads and loads of space!!!

@@BiffaPlaysCitiesSkylines Also would make the docks look like one big set of docks rather than lots of individual ones... I was thinking the same thing as you were trying to futz them into compliance early on. Go all Imperatur and bend them to your will.

I have a good solution for your exporting problem. Add a transport station or a harbor and all the trucks will head for it instead of going by themselves to cities edges (Experimented) Second, be careful. You placed factories near water towers which will make pollution. For decoration, as a citizen in a coastal city: a harbor of lots of ships - a beacon light - signs - a fish market for sure.

Not sure if I've suggested this before but in a modded city, if you want to 'grow' those electric-car car-parks, could you create a custom theme where they're the only possible buildings? Then just apply that theme to a little zone/district and you should instantly grow car parks and nothing else.

The rock trolls us O.o Barges could be good as cargo transport :) The water physics in this game never fail to amuse me XD Thanks for the entertainment!
