I installed the GP SAE 6 Spot Battery Terminals and I'm trying out the on battery terminal fuses (Blue Sea Systems 2151 Dual MRBF Terminal Fuse Block with a 60A for the audio amplifier and a 150A fuse for the alternator). The on battery terminal fuse block and fuses should be safer than using the inline fuse holder with the pigtail to connect to the battery terminal (chance of it coming loose and shorting out the battery.. Just another option to consider. Too bad I can't post an image of it here.

Was having issues with my alternator charging my battery after doing an upgrade on my 03 GT. The Amp upgrade wasnt that much of a difference but I still couldnt figure out what was going on. After watching your video your making my own wire kit, the issue was fixed. Really appriciate the mustang videos. Keep them coming!

Why not connect the ground to an alternator mounting bolt? It seems that would be electrically the same as the motor mount bolt and would be more accessible.
@dannyjohnsonsgarage Жыл бұрын
The alternator is mounted to an aluminum bracket. It would be better to mount it to the motor mount that is directly connected to the engine block for grounding

Scrun Johnson Question bro ... I have an 03 cobra and I recently changed out my alternator and your video helped me out by the way 👍🏽. But I'm still having issues with my volts . I even went back and changed it again and bought a new battery and terminals still battery light turning on and volts drop from 14.7 to 12.5 in like 30mins . Check ground wires all good . Any ideas . Oh and replaced my belt as well . Help

Dumb question Danny, but at 20:47 why the need to reuse the old factory wire? Isn't the new zero gauge replacing it??
@dannyjohnsonsgarage6 жыл бұрын
racequad9 Very good question . I had the same question when I was installing and was told by the mechman rep that you can run both and the power will take the route of least resistance, so it will be fine to run both- just as if the big 3 wire had more strands in it
@racequad96 жыл бұрын
Awesome! Thanks as always.
@209rafita6 жыл бұрын
But is ok to remove the old power wire n just run the new zero gauge one? U know for cleaner look?
@modlist61292 жыл бұрын
So the original power cable from the alternator to the battery never gets removed correct? You are basically just adding another alternator to battery cable just in 0 gauge wire
@dannyjohnsonsgarage2 жыл бұрын
Yes. Current takes the path of least resistance, so now consider it another strand of cable within the zero gauge wire

I used alternator bracket as ground to negative battery terminal, then battery terminal to chassis so two wires total. Should this work? I havent started my car yet.
@dannyjohnsonsgarage3 жыл бұрын
The alternator bracket would go to the engine, and being a GT or Terminator it would be an iron block, so it’s probably the same as the motor mount

instead of putting a ground on the motor mount can I run it somewhere else or that would be a good ground for it

Ok danny so on the ground to battery one, you can leave the factory ground there and add the big 3 kits ground to that motor mount bolt? You dont have to remove the factory ground?
@dannyjohnsonsgarage3 жыл бұрын
Correct, you can leave it. It’s just like adding more strands to the new cable. Current always takes the path of least resistance.

I'm getting high 15 volts reading from my sct tuner. Is this bad? I have the j2fab standard alternator like 165 amp with the big 3 upgrade kit.

That’s too high. You should be 13.5-14.5 . I’d contact him and ask if the regulator is working properly

is 13.3-13.7 normal once the the car is up to temp for a 160 amp alternator?
@dannyjohnsonsgarage6 жыл бұрын
racequad9 Yes. I see a little more than that with my 240 amp, but you don’t want it too high either. It’s a 12V system, so no charging would be 12.

I have 1 question, I’m planning to install a 200A alternator into my 03 cobra, right now the car is stock but I have plans in modify the car in the future, will I need a bigger alternator wire for now or which gauge of wire and lenght will you recommend. I really will appreciate your suggestion and thanks again for the videos very instructive
@dannyjohnsonsgarage3 жыл бұрын
You will need it as soon as the 200amp alternator is installed or it could melt wires. You can buy 7’ black and 3’ red and the inline fuse and ends. It can all be purchased through delcity.com
