Good call by Cathay Pacific grounding the planes putting safety first before profits. Seems that the larger aircraft engines get the more problems develop. Not a Airbus issue but a engine manufacturer issue.

Issues have been resolved quickly, CP hope to have all their 350s back in service this weekend, Thai have carried out inspections and all ok as have JAL and Etihad, assume other carriers have also carried out safety checks.

Actually this isn’t a Rolls Royce issue either, the braided fuel hose is manufactured by a different company, who shall remain nameless. A similar hose is used on most jet engines.

Is it just me or why does these engines on newer aircraft has so much bad reliability? The ones I remembered is the Trent 1000 of the Boeing 787, the PW1000G on the A320neo, and now this on the A350? I've heard about the A220 having engine issues as well back then although I'm not too sure about it.

@@nickolliver3021 They do? I rarely see any news about General Electric having issues, maybe for the GE9X that I only know about. But seriously, what's up with these newer engines having not so great reliability? especially with the Trent 1000.

@@DustinPearce2957 I am posting this as this is what a google search of 'GENX engines issues' have given. Fan midshaft fractures The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) found that the fan midshafts on the GEnx engine cracked or fractured at the forward end of the shaft. and... Powder metal contamination GE has uncovered powder metal contamination issues with the GEnx engine family. So yes its not good that all 3 Major engine manufactures have issues with their products that are supposed to be 100% perfect/flawless

So, correct me if I'm wrong. The engine had an issue mid flight that resulted in a fire, but oh, no big deal? Okay, great. Kudos to Chinese airlines on how high they regard safety in commercial aviation though. Interesting how his issue is being downplayed because it's Airbus. If this was another Boeing issue, all the Airbus crybabies would be whining by now.
@artrandy
@artrandy 14 күн бұрын
That last point is probably because two Boeing aircraft went down, and the manufacturer tried to cover up their responsibility for it. They committed the great cardinal sin in commercial aviation, they put profit before safety. Yes, that's something of a cliché now, but its true nevertheless. It will take a generation for some people to have faith in Boeing again. Whereas Airbus and RR have dealt with the problems concerning the fuel leak immediately and without fuss. They are not blaming anyone so far, certainly no knee jerk reaction to rid themselves of responsibility, whatever the final conclusion is. Accidents will always happen, but the disrespect shown by your favourite aircraft manufacturer to the ghosts of 346 people cannot ever be swept under the carpet just because they were from Third World countries. That's the difference buddy.........

For those that blame Boeing for engine issues, take not on how the A350 involved in the engine incident has come out of the Airbus factory without Airbus noticing. If Boeing’s engine issues imply that Airbus is superior, then this incident would have never happened.

@Blank00
@Blank00 15 күн бұрын
@@tomstravels520 since the thrust link is Boeing’s design, it’s not part of the engine, so I would not classify that as an engine issue, but rather, a mount issue. At this point, it depends on if Boeing will actually fix the design or production quality of the part before it enters service. Assuming that EIS is 2026, 2 years is a reasonable amount of time it takes for the link to be redesigned, revised, or its production quality sorted out.

@georgeclarke163 aye, I 100% have no knowledge of a "subject" I've been in for the past 10 years of my life. 🙄 before any manufacturer begins a bid for the engine supplier/designer, they create a field of requirement, such as efficiency, power requirements, and so on. (But that's besides the point) Airbus simply only has 1 engine for the a350 because it's cheaper. (Both for designing of the aircraft and for maintaining the aircraft) That was airbus' idea not Rolls Royce's not GE not anyone, but airbus' if airbus had another supplier create another engine for the aircraft (at the same time Rolls Royce did) this problem wouldn't be as bad as it is.
