Just a suggestion guy's might be a good idea to put a tarp over the diggings when you leave at the end of your day. Then if it rains you off you are covered

Danny Elfman - 'The Little Things' springs to mind when I watch you two guys working. It's the work practice of attention to detail that makes your work stand out from 'The also Rans'. As the old saying goes - 'Quality is never accidental' Great job yet again, even the squealing hips from Steve wedged in the trench didn't stop progress!

Wow that's a great job there lads it reminds me of my first drainage job in 1969 all glazed pipes then calking with tarred hemp and pointing all the joints all the falls had to be bang on for the inspector he came and rolled a ball down each length to the manhole and if it got suck it failed all the falls had to be bang on and he plugged up the pipes in the manhole and filled all the pipes with water to check for leaks, bloody hell hey lads how the times have changed nice one Steve and Alex keep up the good work.

Years ago we fitted some 24” steel pipe underground and connected it to a cast iron pipe. The connection was a spigot that was leaded. First it was tallowed and hemp string driven in, then we had to put a rubber pipe around as a mould and poured molten lead in the joint from a pot on a crane. Once set we had to go round with offset chisels to drive the lead in. What a job that was!

Brilliant video, love anything underground and how you explain it in such detail. Is there any other way to avoid a potential kink where clay meets plastic (27.34)? Do they sell oversize collars so plastic fits over clay thus aiding flow. Or is it always a case of lining up the bottom of plastic with bottom of clay and trying to avoid a kink?

Not having a go, and it’s easy looking at a finished job and seeing something you would have done differently. But if you had put the coupler on the other side of the branch the pipe would have be in a better line/ straight, and why wouldn’t you replace the old gully when you have the opportunity to connect onto the new drain.
@SteveAndAlexBuild Жыл бұрын
The old gully is for surface water and we were doing the foul 🧱👍🏽

Ar c10 minutes you shouldn't be talking about putting roof water into the foul sewer when there's a separate surface water drain. Very neat work on what you did though. FWIW I reckon to set gulleys and rest bends into a shovelfull of 'compo' to give the plumber a hand when he's pushing and pulling later
