Gosh this takes me back! We are seven years in to our renovation. We are about 200km east of you and started our renovation in 2017. The hives you have are now viewed more as nukes (nucleus) and will be fantastic for attracting any swarms. They retain the lemony essence and pheromone of previous occupants. Once adopted by a swarm searching for a new home you should consider building a top bar hive from much of the discarded wood (plans available online). Keeping bees is a wonderful thing.

Luckily the walls are 2 feet thick and very solid. The joists are going in this week.

Because the outer edges have woodworm, so they’re not structurally sound, but we will reuse the solid inner core to make non structural frames etc…
