I grew up in Oklahoma City, and back in the 80's it was damn hard to find "underground music" (called "alternative" in the 90's). Anyway, I was something of a mall rat, so driving down to Dallas (parents driving, I was a few years away) and, being able to wander the Galleria mall for hours was like heaven. I had seen this video on Mtv and found the cassette in a record store, and my dad was cool enough to buy it for me. Other great trax on the cassette, but E=mc2 was the best. A golden age of music …. Listening back to much of the 80’s, it’s astounding to witness the breadth and scope of artists visions and ideas being executed… it’s clear that the musicians created from their own calling rather than the idea of what might be successful … maybe an inversion of much of what has been going on for many years in the current commercial scene. That’s what was wonderful; bands who were anything but obviously commercial being appreciated for their brilliance and individuality. Love this track. So fresh

this was on heavy rotation on the radio when I was a kid in Italy, I couldnt understand a word of it, but I loved it... Now I stumbled on it, and it is just like a madeleine, and btw, the lyric is great.

Still as fresh as it ever was, in 2019. Incredible messages, presented visually and musically.

I used to love BAD back in the 80s. Mick Jones was the ‘pop’ element of the Clash.

This will NEVER age. So redolent of my mid teens when I first got into my own music. Totally unique band. Never heard anything like it since ❤❤❤

I love BAD still listening in 2020. Rush puts me in a good mood especially with everything going on in the USA. Unemployment is record high, Homelessness is growing, and police brutality is at all time high. Oh Yes and Covid -19 is rising. May GOD bless every human being on this GLOBE. E=MC2

I first saw the Clip on MTV 80s in October or early November.I didnt know it but great one. I thought the singer was Strummer but it was Mick Jones from The Clash.

BAD were so influential in the direction my life took. Ive met em all apart from Dan. Spent good time with Greg and Leo, Don has been on decks supporting my old band and during my last bands gig in Portabella. Meeting Mick on yhe four or five occasions blew my brains. Greg is the reason i play drums and Mick and Don are responsible for so much of who I am today. BAD for life.

Mick Jones' tribute to Nicholas Roeg -- all his movies are called out in the lyrics. Genius! This influenced Gorrillaz. I love you, Mike J.

"she's a flame too hot to hold, had to settle for her cold'? i think that's the only reference though. hopefully not the 'best sex i've ever seen...' bit :p

I think the best sex line refers to the sex scene in Dont Look Now, but you may be right about the other line.
@addisonstumair8 жыл бұрын
yes, the sex line is about don't look now (it was a joke)

I remember watching this video in a pub with my mate in 1986. We didn't know any of the Nicolas Roeg references at that time. I have since seen all of the films. B.A.D, Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush and Talking Heads made some great videos back then. They were less throwaway than the ones made today. "I don't Think I am going to let you stay in the film business" is a line that we quoted a lot at this time. Thanks for the upload.

Just read 'Passion is a fashion' by Pat Gilbert, about the Clash. Was quite excited that Mick Jones lived with his granny in the same block of flats where a friend of mine lives, Christchurch House, top of Brixton Hill.

Just watched don't look now on the big screen as a 50th anniversary of it at the flicks then remembered this . This song turned me on to the films of nic roeg .cheers Mick
