Just like with disco, every decade has its lame music that’s dated. I think we’re remembering the best of the rest. I don’t know what’s good dance music today-maybe a few gems-but much is heavy bass, terrible lyrics and not very creative or too poppy. Half of MTV (1982) was crappy, synthesizer overload* and dated, but not the dance music. There were some good rock bands and pop in the 90s. It seems to me that pop in the 2000s sounds the same. What’s the point in complaining? I went back to the 60s and 70s funk/soul danceable songs. I’ve got plenty of that and classic rock. Kids will like what they will while I ruin the stats by not watching the whole video. My 30 second rule: If it doesn’t grab you in the first 30 seconds, move on. *Exception to synthesizer: Donna Summer’s “I Feel Love”. That was a groundbreaker.

still such a great song and on most of my playlists, i especially associate it with summer. saw this group live yesterday and the crowd started singing the "ah ah aah" bit until they got back to sing some more! amazing feeling.

I graduated high school in 1992. Went to a party either end of 93 or beginning of 94. This song was playing when I walked up to the house. Most of my high school friends were there. It really was the last high school party. The last time that such a large number of us would be together. If I would have know that, I would have savored that moment, but when you are 19, you think you have more time. Still a great song for a bitter sweet memory.
