Evac. Exhaust flow by them create pressure that pulls the crankcase pressure out through the exhaust. Keep the engine from building up to much crankcase pressure during high rpms witch can blow out the seals

@@matthewjohnson2495 I don't think he knows that Dana 60's were OPTIONS on 74-79 F250's and 1979-2011 F350's. I also believe that he doesn't understand that no auto manufacture actually makes them themselves and that they are/were ordered from and manufactured by Dana/Spicer. And the divorced transfer case under the old Ford hi-boy was designed that way by Ford themselves. Ford designed the running gear that way because they knew about u-joints angles on lifted trucks. And if something has a Dana or New Process transfer case under it, The transfer case is/was manufactured by either Dana or New Process and not the auto manufacture themselves.
