The Prime Air flight was having slat/flap issues and had to land faster than normal. The preliminary report hasn't been issued, so I won't speculate, but Broncolerio suggested that they may have had hydrolic issues affecting the brakes. Either way the pilots declared an emergency prior to landing.

@@wukilla8ee WEIRD!!, That's why I use an Atlas!!😑
@Edward-bd8iy25 күн бұрын
@wukilla8ee I know why! When the last piece of I-64 was finished in 1988, the grade East of Beckley and the other one West of the Sam Black Church interchange (US 60) were causing brake loss due to 7% grades on both, long ones. Also, the steep climb up from the New River towards Beckley were killing engines and drivetrains. People just weren't ready for it. For some years after the opening, companies were mandating their drivers to take the old way. It developed into some GPS units picking up on it. Even now, you MUST stop and check your brakes before the eastbound downgrade out of Beckley... and there is little notice before you start the downgrade Westbound towards the Meadow Bridge interchange. Rookies and first-timers on that side be advised!

I think I know what happened at the 8 minute and 50 second mark. Could be wrong but in my opinion he started out in too low of a gear and panicked. He thought he was going to be able to pull out a lot faster but he was probably in two lowest a year so he panicked and tried to turn into the far right lane instead. And while he was panicking making sure he didn't run into the other car he didn't pay attention to the mirrors in the chaos and sideswipe that railing or whatever it was. I drive a Mack Tandem and a tri axle at my job. The tandem is a manual and on my first or second day of having my CDLs I made a left-handed turn in a low gear on a four-lane highway with a fifth Lane turn in the middle. When I went to turn left I was in too low of gear and it was a left turn yield on Green meaning I had to yield to the oncoming traffic. There was a motorcycle coming way down the road but when I went to turn left I was in such low of gear I panicked across the intersection in time. I ended up making it across installed it out somehow. But the one good thing was I gave myself plenty of time to make the turn it's just it took me far too long. The motorcycle perfectly fine and just went around my tail end of my truck. But it's one of those things that taught me a lesson. There was also another driver behind me where I worked at and he is the one that told me to start taking off in a higher gear. Now I never make turns in 2nd or 3rd gear unless I absolutely have to. I will usually take off in 3rd or 4th now. But my experience that I had just made me think about what I seen in this video of that guy and that's why I made the comment. I really do think he's seen the car I think he just fumbled up the right turn and then he panicked
