I purchased one of these moths months ago, it's always been one of my favorite planes. My first moth built from plans, a 1/4 scale 4-stroke took half a finger off back in the 80's. I can't wait to make a start on the build and the way things are going hopefully before I retire LOL.

I adore the look of bi-planes. Your review answered many questions about this particular model that I had. It’s a lot of plane for the price, so I expected a modification or two would be necessary. I hope the spontaneous rip in the wing is not a reoccurring issue.
@mikegriffiths74874 жыл бұрын
Great to see you have found this model. I’ve been flying mine for the last few months and it’s become my favourite plane. I have 20% rudder/ aileron mix to help the turns. Also added a cross brace to the undercarriage legs as they tend to splay a bit with each landing; also makes for a more scale look. Incredible value for money so upgrading the odd bit of hardware is a small price to pay.

having briefly flown a real Tiger Moth I agree with your comments 'needs coordinated rudder and aileron for turns' is absolutely true. Ironically the owner of the Tiggie I flew with said 'the aircraft has absolutely no redeeming features at all' yet they are graceful in the air despite almost flying backards in a stiff breeze and side slip at a moments notice. Aussie built Tiggies are usually powered by a Holden built version of the Gypsy engine....I don't care for the negatives, it was awesome to personally fly one of De Havilland's most famous aircraft for real.

I have this model and I can assure you that it flies extremely well. When I finished mounting it (very easy) I was able to verify that to leave it in its center of gravity with a 4Stroke engine I would have to add a good amount of lead in the nose. I looked in the catalog for an engine that with its weight would leave the plane balanced without adding weight. I chose the OS 95 4stroke and I was right in centering. I have plenty of power and flying at 50% capacity I can do any maneuver. It can fly very slowly and is a beauty. I had a break recently and was able to find a replacement for an entire fuselage. I recommend NEXA, its manufacturer, to offer the model again to stores because they will sell all the ones they make. The price/quality/enjoyment ratio is highly compensatory for the owner.

Hi Andrew your videos have to be the best on KZbin the amount of effort you go to with your camera positions on the plane and on the ground is fantastic. Straight to the point with your information. beautiful bird , subbed its always good to find a fellow aussie into the hobby, and ill look forward to seeing what else you are interested in flying or building and really appreciate your honesty about the setup, the extra weight and good to see you land and trim before taking to the air a second time, all too many youtube channels show no such adjustments or talk about this sort of fine tunning and it looks like their planes all work perfectly first flight, this discourages new pilots as they dont have this experiance and do need to work on getting things right we just dont get to see that from most channels we all know your experiance is more honest that theres a lot of care and effort taken in not just flying but getting the best from your birds and its great to see that reflected by someone it is part of the hobby and the part most of us dont get to realise untill we take to the sky ourselves yet many new hobbiests will watch reviews and channels like yours before they take the plunge and will not be aware things sometimes need to be modified or changed to get the results the experts like you show is possable. That said really beautiful model this is one anyone would be proud of having in their hanger its gorgeous.

Hello Andrew. Andrew, does it really matter on how much weight has be added to achieve the Cof G. Maybe a more powerful motor to lift it off, because it does feel a heavy plane.

It is a heavy plane, but not excessive wing loading. I recall thinking it feels too heavy but it has the wing area.

Does the Emax servos have enough torque for the ailerons to stay true? I was not expecting this plane to use mini servos for the wings. The wing covering looks poor or deteriorates when exposed to the sun, looks saggy.
