Dumadean Simpson If you're talking about wood glue, I've probably only used 3 different brands of glue, and I think they're all pretty much the same. I've never had any of them fail and that's good enough for me. I grab whatever is there when I go to the store.

I really enjoy watching your videos. It's useful that you build things out of wood instead of relying on metal frames because if anything breaks you have the capacity to just build a replacement. On top of that it's very nature-friendly since it seems like you almost always use reclaimed wood for your projects.

Glad to see you building the new band saw, I was actually hoping you'd go up to a 36". Oh well, 2" at a time is fine too. I suppose that is smart. You will likely sell or gift one or two along the way as you find new limitations and idiosyncrasies to overcome. I look forward to seeing this one completed. I think your design is so brilliant that I bought your plans and began building my own some time ago, and I really am excited to see the next iteration being constructed. You inspire me once more to complete my own saw.

Thanks for that explanation John, sounds like a useful property, I always buy the cheapest glue I can find which is €4.90 for a 750ml bottle, €6.90 for water resistant, just white PVA glue, have built one wandel-style deck chair with it, and another with polyurethane construction adhesive. See which one lasts longer.... Have been thinking about trying some american glue such as titebond III, can get my hands on a gallon bottle for 60€

Like many woodworkers on KZbin I see you spreading the glue on a joint whereas I (with less experience certainly) assume clamping the pieces together will spread the glue reasonably well so don't usually bother. That sounds like the sort of thing you might do one of your tests on (hint, family life etc allowing)! Presumably the type of glue shouldn't matter other than viscosity/absorption. Keep up the good work, your videos are inspiring.

I really enjoy watching you crafting these devices, Once I move to a bigger place I plan to start making some of the items which you have carefully and skillfuly done. I like the idea of building a bandsaw. I'm starting to learn woodworking, In the past I was never a fan of wood crafting, but I seem to be warming to it as I get older (almost 30). I've done various forms of metal working and I was wondering if there is any benefit to using a wooden bandsaw over a metal one other than being able to simply built it up slowly?

Does this guy ever sleep? Not only would it take forever to build the bandsaw, but he had to design the thing as well, and then he had to spend all the time filiming and editing all his work. This guy is truly remarkable. And on top of it he come across as a really down to earth guy. I love his thriftiness - "and if those boards aren't enough, I'll cut up those IKEA shelves as well". but why even clamp? if i remember right there is a video where matthias tests some glue strenghts and the joints with small gaps were even stronger (?!?!) .. if its only to hold the alignment until the glue is dry, only a couple of clamps would be sufficient, no?

I saw the video too. But I take that it might apply for joints, not sticking panes together. Industrial panels made of many layers are just that: planes of wood and a huge press holding them together while they're glued. I guess is one of those "Do as pro do, and dont ask" moments. Still, it would be interesting to know

If you've got 'em, use 'em! Hitting the surface with plastic staples while the glue sets up, or screwing it all down wih temporary fasteners are alternatives, but I would miss watching to see how many clamps sprout from hiding!

What looks to be a rather daunting glue-up, you make look so simple. Awesome work. How long do you leave the glue-up in clamps before going to the next layer? You mentioned 15 minutes in the video, I was just asking if that was the average for each section you worked on.
