White is regular PVA glue. Yellow is PVA glue with aliphatic resin added for faster initial grip and it makes the glue dry a bit harder.

See which one lasts longer.... Have been thinking about trying some american glue such as titebond III, can get my hands on a gallon bottle for 60€

Since clamping seems to be a must in all your proyects, and yo make your own tools, have you ever thought of a clamping machine? One that uses a car jack or similar to press really hard. A steel beam ought to hold the preassure well. and you would have consistent preasure over the whole board
@jaimemagana8 жыл бұрын
mc349iii I see. For joints I see your point, but when sticking planes to each other, like in the video, would it still be too much preassure?
@MarioJBGugisch8 жыл бұрын
but why even clamp? if i remember right there is a video where matthias tests some glue strenghts and the joints with small gaps were even stronger (?!?!) .. if its only to hold the alignment until the glue is dry, only a couple of clamps would be sufficient, no?
@jaimemagana8 жыл бұрын
I saw the video too. But I take that it might apply for joints, not sticking panes together. Industrial panels made of many layers are just that: planes of wood and a huge press holding them together while they're glued. I guess is one of those "Do as pro do, and dont ask" moments. Still, it would be interesting to know
@nautamaran8 жыл бұрын
If you've got 'em, use 'em! Hitting the surface with plastic staples while the glue sets up, or screwing it all down wih temporary fasteners are alternatives, but I would miss watching to see how many clamps sprout from hiding!
@TheOomgosh8 жыл бұрын
What looks to be a rather daunting glue-up, you make look so simple. Awesome work. How long do you leave the glue-up in clamps before going to the next layer? You mentioned 15 minutes in the video, I was just asking if that was the average for each section you worked on.
