The pessimist in me thinks about the time where the smoke alarm will go nuts and start ringing during a session, you'll have to superman yourself to the ceiling to disconnect the battery like I did a few days ago at 3 in the morning. Your place looks amazing!

Perfect! I have Hue as well in my studio! So cool to be able to set the mood for every session according to the time of day and/or feel of the music! Keep up the great work! Hope the kitchen will feature a bakery! I will bring my sourdough and helpe you make bread!

First of all, I absolutley love the videos ! Keep them coming, please. I'm a soundengineer and a theater technician, no complaints on the audio side. As a theater guy, here's some suggestions. For lifts, look at theater lifts like Genie and ALP , they are less bulky and some of them you can drive to the next working spot from the basket you are in. As for lights, pointing one spot between the beams is absolutly brilliant, what I don't like is the blob of light where a spot is to close to the ceiling, especially on camera. Don't know the point of angle of the Hue spotlights but when it is possible it's worth trying to "cross focus" the spots to the opposite ceiling. This way you smear the beam out over a larger area and have less "blobs" on camera. Don't take this comment negatively, Love the work and effort you and youre lovely co-workers put into this amazing project.

It's great to see this project and be able to watch it taking shape. An astounding amount of work, and this looks like it will be a fantastic place when it is all done. On the other hand, on a production note regarding the videos... dude, seriously, looking at your head filling the entire screen gets really old and stale very quickly. This might be something to give some serious consideration, especially given the fact that there is always so much that viewers could be looking at as you are talking about the work and the plan. Good luck with the project, and it will surely be a great day when it is all finally complete, and you can turn to using a working studio.

I use boom lifts like that where I work all the time, the biggest one so far was 125" in height.

The lighting looks brilliant! I am not a musician but can easily imagine how it will be a great impact on the recording work you will be doing. I was curios if you have considered a cabled dolly set up to carry overhead video camera's ?

Regarding the smoke alarms: I might be totally off, but a few years ago a fire inspector instructed me to always place smoke alarms at the highest point, flat up against the ceiling. The reason being that smoke will find It’s way up, and then travel along the ceiling. Any lower than that, the smoke alarm might miss the smoke, and would not react as fast to a possible fire situation. Seeing as the smoke alarm was placed under the beam, it might not be the safest place to place it? Of course, like I said, I might be totally wrong and speaking out of my ass. But just wanted to throw that in there. Studio looks great btw, and the video series is excellent! Cheers from Finland!
