It’s another epic BIG BATES FAMILY episode as Lawson heads to Colorado to hit the slopes with his siblings and parents! Things start off with a bang quickly turn to mayhem in family game night! I used to be a military wife. My husband traveled alot. The longest we were apart was 3 months. We are older, so we didn't have cellphones at the time. I tried to write letters most everyday to keep his spirits up. Just remember that reunions can be sweet as well. 🙂

My sister lived there for 24 years so I spent a lot of time there and it’s BEAUTIFUL and warm so I get it!!! My husband has been an OTR truck driver for the last three years. He is gone 24-30 days at a time, and then he is home for 4-5 days. Being apart stinks. We talk to each other daily. FaceTime sometimes. We just simply do what has to be done for this season of time.

My husband of 47years passed away after a 19 month brain bleed, he returned his memory really well 4 months prior to his demise, but past the 20th of December. It is the hardest time of my life. I thought we were going to be back together in February. We were in the work of bring in home when he past.

I'm a military spouse. Some things we do while separated are facetime and for the long separations is write letters. Keeping communication open while separated is also a really good thing.

15:00. I dated my wife (then girlfriend) in college in the early 1990s. Summer vacation from university was hard because we would be apart for a month at a time. She lived in Connecticut and I lived in Pennsylvania. I would generally drive once a month to see her for a weekend (June, July, & August). We started dating in 1993 (I was a Junior & she was a Freshman) and married in 2000. Together 30 years now. Time flies--wow.

My husband and I are about to spend the longest time apart(3 months). He will be in VA for his new job, looking for a house for us. And I'll be here with our kids finishing school and packing. I can't tell you how we will cope since it hasn't happened yet. But I think staying busy and keeping in mind I'll be there with him soon will help!

I live in the middle of Nebraska and I have skied Colorado a few times. I am older now and haven't skied for years. I can't imagine going 40-50 mph down the slopes. Keystone is a beautiful place. I have skied Breckenridge and Loveland. I love the mountains. Looks like a wonderful family trip!! I admire all of you for gathering together and spending time with one another. My husband and I had spent a lot of time apart. For years, he worked 2nd & 3rd shift, when I worked outside the home I work 1st, now I homeschool our 2 beautiful daughters. But 4-1/2 years ago my mom died and my girls and I would have to be leave 2-3 weeks at a time to get her house packed and ready to sell. We did that for almost 2 years. It's what we had to do, so we just did it. Sometimes life gives you circumstances you dislike but when you love each other you just find a way to overcome. We've made it 15 years. A lot of days are hard, but we greatly love our family! Just as your beautiful family!

My husband use to work really long outages, up to 8 weeks at a time. He might come home for the weekend following that outage and then leave again. If he was within a days drive, we would go and stay with him for a week and make it a homeschool experience for our kids. If he was working night shifts, we couldn’t really go and see him because he would sleep all day. All we could do is just call each other, FaceTime, and send photos of ours days. Sometimes we would send packages in the mail if he was going to be at the same hotel for a while. It was really hard for us and our kids, so he made the choice after several years to only do more local and week long outages.

My husband is a long haul truck driver! The longest we’ve spent apart is two weeks. Most weeks we are apart for 3 or 4 days. We talk on the phone every day and FaceTime some. We have three daughters, and when they were little, he would call every day. I stay busy with family and work when he is gone. You get used to it eventually, it has been our life for 30 plus years.

On our TV a couple of days ago they showed the Bates family's very first skiing trip. Your mum was scared of the ski lift, and Nathan had his first skiing lesson from your Mum as he arrived a day after the rest of you.
