Great job on the Big Beam recovery. I bet you could turn up an adapter for the light that would let you put a D battery in it to power the light. Speaking of the mechanical flasher. Cars had those and you could hear it clicking so you knew the turn signal was on. Years in the factories have wrecked my hearing so I couldn't hear the click, click, click. Lydia would remind me the turn signal was on. Yes. I am the guy driving a couple miles on the highway with my turn signal on because the gradual turn on the merge lane didn't cancel it. Now the car and the pickup have an alarm that lets me know I need to turn off the turn signal. Funny but I can't hear the alarm unless I'm wearing my hearing aids. 😁😎

Love that clock! If people are going to be mad at Amazon then they HAVE to be mad at Sears and Roebuck, JCPenney, Speigel, Montgomery Ward, Belk, Western Auto and so on and so on and so on. Mail order catalogs were the Amazon of their day. Just think of all the mail order companies that were around years ago. Nobody grumbled about Mom and Pop businesses being affected by them. But oh just think of all the small shops that fell by the wayside to mail order catalogs. Time marches on.

I know a guy who cleans brushes somewhat like you do, and the same guy also resharpens utility knife blades and custom sharpens with back side sharpened and a couple sharpened with radius ground points, that was a happy accident because I broke the tip of a virtually new blade and I am to frugal (cheap) to throw out a perfectly good blade, and didn’t like the look of the broken tip. Love the light, thanks for the update, enjoyed watching.

Do you have one of the wind up sharpeners from the 20's? First time I saw one I couldn't figure out what it was. David Chadwick told me about a group of reenactors that liked to collect old razor blades for their old razors like the Doughboys used. They resharpened them too.

Enjoyable video as usual. The information about brushes was very useful because i am restoring some filthy neglected Mossberg tools. They came in a very old sheet metal tool box that has curved corners like your beacon light. I found a cylindrical flap wheel that fits in a drill and made short work of the rust in the corners of the box. I agree that fish oil based paints are good rust fighters. Good information on wire brushes. Regardless of brand i think a full face mask is a good idea. The Chinesium wheels are especially notorious for wire spitting.

You mentioned them being in trucks back in the day, were you referring to them being used as safety equipment for roadside breakdowns in semi trucks or some other purpose? I don’t know that I’ll ever be frugal enough to clean & reuse acid brushes but that was a good tip nonetheless. 😅

Update Venting: About my knowledge of shingles. My house was built in 1986, and the builder used 3 Tab Shingles. Fast forward to before COVID, and State Farm sent me a notice that my Deductible was being raised from $500 to $1000. I was not happy about this, so I filed a Hail Damage Claim on my original roof, and State Farm paid a substantial amount to replace my roof. I paid extra for the upgraded Architectural Shingles. If you do replace your roof, ask for extra shingles, as replacements for any future damages. I was given a full pack by the Roofing Company.

Nice one although I don't think the evaporust was doing its job. It should have turned it black. Still like the clock it came out nice. Amazon is a necessary evil. I by local if I can afford it and they have it. Much like walmart in a community. For rural areas that don't have a lot of stores and you had to travel 60 to 80 miles it's a huge difference. Especially free shipping. Even Sears didn't do that. I think you do what's right for you. Local stores couldn't stand up to the pricing because customers couldn't. These places get big because a person gets more for the dollar that isn't worth a dollar.

My definition of cheap is dumping pain onto yourself and others trying to save a penny. Using $1 worth of mats and 20 minutes of your time and effort to save a 50 cent acid brush fits that perfectly. Although, if you only do this once to make a KZbin video tutorial, you found a loophole.
