Big Bear Eagles ~ SHADOW & JACKIE ARE HOME! Nest Work & Love Nips! ♥♥ 9.16.19

What a special treat tonight to see our favorite eagle couple back on the nest together! It is early in the season so this visit was unexpected! Shadow arrives first to the nest and then Jackie follows. Shadow is in top form moving sticks as only Shadow can do! :) There is some gentle beaking & love nips between them - all normal and part of their courtship & relationship building! They pick up Cookie's leg at 3:17 & Jackie moves it & we see the band at 3:42.
They continue to move nesting material around & engage in more beaking. Shadow will to to the front limb and leave at 14:15 and Jackie stays on the nest for a couple of minutes before departing in a beautiful swan dive off the front limb too! It was wonderful to see both of them on the nest tonight and I did not see any hook in Jackie's mouth. They should start with nestorations in the Fall. Thank you for watching!

Great to see them again, and hoping for a slightly softer bed for this years eaglet (s) too. Keeping Big Bear in my weather app again this year and updates from family when needed. It can get mighty cold up there and as we saw last year, some very unexpected snow as well. It’s still September up there, so summer isn’t exactly over just yet.♥️🦅♥️

Shadow does such a good job clearing a spot for the new eggs ! Fascinating to see how they dig down to remove all the larger sticks...guess to make it softer for the eventual eaglets? They're a great pair at housekeeping and nest rebuilding! How fun to see them again! Like everyone, made my day! What a wonderful treat! This couple has to be one of the most spectacular eagle couples in the world. They are just so gorgeous. Little cookie will always be a part of the nest and with them in bird spirit. Not to put human impressions on them but I like to think Cookie's spirit will stay with Simba to help him thrive. I only started watching this nest after Cookie had died, so I mostly saw Jackie yapping at Shadow for one thing or another. I thought she sure was one bossy eagle! LOL! Now watching this video and seeing how nicely they work together and Jackie being calm and quiet was quite a pleasant surprise for me! Ahhhh, a sigh of relief!

When I saw Shadow I thought I was watching another channel then I notice it was the BB eagle cam. I just couldn’t believe my eyes! Then Jackie? I was so happy I wanted to jump up and click my heels. We will find out when Mom's egg cycle month will be for laying her future eggs....January or March. This season will be her third clutch, so it will be very exciting to find out. It probably will be February...LOL There are no two eagles that I know of that have the personality and beauty as Mom and Shadow. They are so funny and, of course, Lady Hawk opens their eagle life to us with her video's. Take care and SEDs...cheers! :)

GA Lady Hawk! Lovely opening scaps and cover scaps! Not sure which one I would pick as a favorite! The proud parents return home together to make an assessment of the nest and see just how much is in store for them to rebuild. Shadow cracks me up getting right down to business moving sticks, his stick obsession will always be one of his many defining traits. Makes you wonder watching them what they're feeling about Simba. Are they communicating with each other in their way, a sadness that he's gone or perhaps they're curious as to why he left at all since one is still somewhat new at parenting and the other brand new. Either way it's just wonderful to see them and this footage in it's entirety. Thanks Lady Hawk!💜😍

@@barb7774 Simba is banded! He will be able to be spotted by a photographer hopefully at some point along the way. His band is purple with the letters ZR1 and a silver federal ID on the other leg. That information will be sent to Bird Banding Lab & the bander Dr Bloom. That is how we usually hear news of our alumni!!

There was somewhat of a solemness watching them when they were on the nest. I know they have to miss our boy as much as we do. I know it’s their duty and they do what they have to do, but still that is their baby. I know I sure miss my Simba. 💜💜
