Oops, just saw the note. I guess as it's not exactly nano, it would be on the small size of conventional, but I still love Bloodfin Tetras, if you ever decide to do a spotlight on them...

Tiger Barbs or maybe Bleeding Heart Tetras.

They sort of do, honestly. Check out barbus jae and barbus hulstaerti as well as Eirmotus octozona
@carlapappalardo19016 жыл бұрын
That's right I'd forgotten about them! I did see them in your book when I first got it,and wanted them, but I've never seen them anywhere for sale. But, then... I'd need an 11th tank instead of the 10th I'm getting ready to set up.... this is way too addicting... (I will of course check to look for your species spotlight on them, but I don't remember one... the Jae that is)

Hi Rachel thats a really cool looking barb you got there WOW. Does it get more color the older they get? Cheers Mikael i'm really like your fishroom and your tips you give Rachel they are the best!

Yes, it will fire up way more then these are, I just wanted to take the opportunity to talk about them while I had them in the fishroom.

I've always loved (but never had - only seen them once - and it was only one) the Striped barb - Desmopuntius johorensis. Or the smaller Struntius lineatus. D. pentazona - 5 banded barb or D. hexazona. I see you mentioned the Butterfly barb and E. octozona in the comments-have you done an exposé on them yet. Barbs are so underappreciated - and they are so much fun to watch!

Wahh... finally you break your own trend ma'am.... wanting more such new trend breakers... though you have started it from the earlier betta video imo.... thank you.... requesting you to do some normal Cory videos like-peppered, panda, bronze.... the common fish from a trendsetter is always special.... stay blessed.... from India

Can they be kept with Tiger Barbs? I have a big school of Tigers but only 2 Clown, still smaller than the Tigers and I'm considering to putting them together as I have trouble to find more Clown Barbs in my country

Is the wider girth being female the same for gold barbs? I have six of them and four are much larger and sometimes I have observed the smaller one pushing against the sides of the bigger ones, which i am guessing is trying to instigate breeding. thanks Rachel.
@RachelOLeary6 жыл бұрын
Yes, in general.
@vichu21606 жыл бұрын
Rachel why not you and Dustin come to India? People around the world value the species from here but here no one value them. BTW the above one slightly looks like puntius barb or melon barb.

Can you do a species spotlight on Indian orange hatchetfish? I bought a few at an lfs but have lost 4 so far. How readily available are they and how are they at breeding?
@RachelOLeary6 жыл бұрын
pretty sure I already have! They are easy to breed, but not that common to find.

How do I make water for water changes? Do I need an 8ft tank of water to supply an 8ft tank on display? Really want to keep some fish but don't understand water change.... To have a big fancy tank do i need shit loads of water in storage?
@RachelOLeary6 жыл бұрын
You do not need that, most folks with a big tank use a water changing system called a python that hooks to your sink for draining and refilling your tank. Instead of pretreating your water before refilling, you put the water conditioner into the tank before filling- you ust use water conditioner for the total volume of the tank rather than just the water removed.

Hi Rachel! This is a bit off topic but I need your expertise. One of my black skirt tetras has a rather large lump on his left side. I quarantined him as a precaution, but he seems to be behaving normally, eating fine, etc. The only symptom is the growth, which is the same color as his body. Any idea what this could be?

Hey in my lfs they got dwarf anchor cats, scarlet badis, and dwarf pea puffers will they all be compatible with each other in a 10 gallon tank?
@RachelOLeary6 жыл бұрын
I dont' think pea puffers are a community fish, though they might do alright with the dwarf anchors. Dwarf anchors and dario do great togehter as well- i just probably would not recommend dario with pea puffer.
