Beautiful awesome looking car looks like an overgrown cougar in the front and a Torino Fastback from the rear

They need to make a diecast model of it

Must be still the best looking car ever produced in Australia.

A well built Landau has to be one of the meanest looking cars ever. This one is awesome 😎

Significant changes from the original. But I’m glad she has been saved.

I agree alot of changes i wanted him to go with a black vinyl roof and the wheel arch moulds etc for a more original but modified look but he decided to stay with the all black theme..they have sold a few of there other cars Xa coupe etc..but will never sell this one..the car was originally yellow.
@fordlandau6 жыл бұрын
Aaron tipper Yes. I think the vinyl roof is a key part of the look. I know he must have had to grind the roof where the plate was inserted to create the unique rear roofline. Interesting also that behind all that is the same glass as for a normal hardtop. Sneaky Ford !

There is a link below in another reply with some more details on the build..he plans to run it again at the drags it ran 11.42 at 125 mph, before killing the gearbox with the old mild engine.. this will go easy 10's but only for a couple of runs till he gets told to take it home they don't want to put a rollcage in it..

Beautiful car but the bonnet scoop spoils the lines of the car in my opinion.

Drivers side front bar park light not working, you would think being a ford landau owner it would be perfect for a photo shoot?
@boss9coupe4 жыл бұрын
The car was literally only drive-able the day before and only the second drive on a bumpy country road to the photo shoot..it was a loose connection it takes time to weed out every little bug on 47 year old car and a complex 2 year full rebuild like this one.. Thank you.
Not even a real landau LOL :) XB fitted with landau front and rear stuff and inside stuff, lol :) still loved to have it to do what i would do to it. :) In fact in 1989 seen a black landau with gadges on the bonnet on the ballarat freeway on the side of the road for some reason, maybe it was the same car, dont know, but it had cream leather ? Also bonnet scope total makes the car look cheap as well, all the rest i would have had the leather seats done in a rich reddish burgundy leather and the same with the roof lining and also dash and door trimming even the parcel shelf with padded lather with the right buttons, black on black and black is so wrong its not funny and the dash lights replaced with new led ones and other features like A/C and power steering replaced with the XE versions and so on, it like his dad had the cash and paid for everything, thats what i believe IMHO. :)

I think you are right. The rear side lights don't match.
@boss9coupe4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comments..the car is a Genuine original build Landau with many little things unique to a landau like extra bracing hidden behind the front fenders as an example, the rear quarter panel (horizontal) indicator is correct with the chrome surround..interesting also available on later build October 1975 John Goss Specials, which i have owned as well. earlier 1975 John Goss Specials have the regular vertical xa xb side indicator with no chrome surround. Ford did some cool stuff..the engine is a large Big Block ford with CVF Aluminium pulleys as he didn't have any accessories as we started with a new bare ford racing block. the engines manifold sits fairly high so the bonnet scoop was a necessary compromise to fit it under the bonnet it's also feeds cold air to the engine, no LEDs in this car i can assure you. the interior is next on the list..i went to the one of the owner's 50th birthday earlier this year him and his wife both work hard to fuel there passion for cars they have owned the Landau for 12 years and absolutely love it.

it is a Hardtop, you own one & call it a coupe. How stupid
@boss9coupe4 жыл бұрын
Yes technically you are correct it is a Hardtop..but in Australia it is most commonly referred to as a coupe, that would most probably be the majority of people watching this video Australian's...If i was to word it as a Landau Hardtop it may be mostly seen by our American cousins, and lost to my target audience. Thank you.

@@boss9coupe Fair enough, even Ford literature from the factory refer them as hardtop. Sorry for being hard, just gets under my skin. I have a Valiant hardtop & people refer to it as a coupe. Drives me mad. Still a beautiful hardtop, I can't believe the price people are paying these days for them. For that price you can pick up a 1970 Ford Torino GT Fastback Hardtop with a 429 Cobra Jet, or if you are lucky a Super Cobra Jet, 4 speed imported into Australia & still have money left over.

@@louiskats5116 Haha..i hear you when i have referred to my car.. saying i have a falcon Hardtop its nearly always the same response.. so you have a coupe? lol...oh well your comment made me re-think now that i have a XA i may start referring to it as my XA hardtop again maybe i can change people's mind's one person at a time..I agree with your 100% Aussie falcon Hardtop's are out of control price wise..it's crazy and not as much fun owning one now, people are starting to think your a rich yuppy with a big check book if you have a nice one. The 70 Torino as you said is WAY better value and is one of my all time favorite muscle cars particularly the hind away light version.. with as you said a 429 Cobra Jet a factory option, would be a dream car and fully legal with the BBF i'd rework the engine heavily internally but leave it stock appearing on the outside a real sleeper and fun drive.. my brother and i are rebuilding his 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T factory Alpine white 383 magnum though it doesn't have its factory block so we are fitting a 440.. The Valiant Hardtop is a Aussie classic never owned one but always liked them.

@@boss9coupe Hi Aaron, I know where you are coming from. My VG 770 Hardtop Hemi numbers matching Valiant was my daily driver up until 4 years ago. It didn't bother me, go shopping, pick up the kids, goto work etc. It was in very good condition for its age. I am the 3rd owner. 3 attempts to steal it etc. It's coming to the end of a 4 year restoration & I am planning to use it again as my daily driver. It scares me now knowing how much money I have poured into it, plus passion plus sweat to have some ice up driver crunch it. No insurance, no money & where do you get the parts to fix it. I have had drug money & I mean serious drug money offered to sell my hardtop, but then what do you replace it with. I know the Torino you are talking about. Torino GT, such a beautiful sleek looking muscle car, also the 1971 Mustang Boss 351 is my favorite Mustang. Same motor as a XY GT HO Phase 3 but a hell of a gorgeous body & faster too. Regarding your Challenger, good luck with it. Can I recommend watching Nick's Garage on KZbin. He has a 1970 Dodge Challenger which he restored about a year ago named Kowalski, one of the best channel on KZbin, watch it religiously every week. I am located in Melbourne, yourself love to check out your Hardtop some day 👍
