This video is for those people looking for a budget 780 Comet clutch. My existing CVT Tech clutch failed on me and could not decide if I wanted to go with a Polaris clutch or a 780 Comet. In order to run the Polaris clutch we would have to run an adapter from "keyed" to "tapered" shaft

This 780 does take a smaller bolt to mount than the CVT clutch, we will do another video of the overall performance of this Amazon clutch and see how it will hold up to our Big Block EzGo

My 780 just messed up as well. When mounted to the engine I can spin the actual clutch portion of the unit while being mounted to the crankshaft without the crankshaft or inner sheave moving. The bolt that retains the unit onto the crankshaft will also remain still.

my 780 is a cheap china clone, at the time it was only $130with overnight shipping, makes a great backup but I lost 9mph due to the 780 being 1/2" smaller in diameter in lieu of the CV. I plan on running the 780 for the time being until I get get my 1190 style which is 1" bigger than the 780.

What kind of torque convertor do these come with stock? I’m trying to source one

CV Tech- or they did when I got mine from Vegas Carts but I believe they have their own version of the 780 now. I went with the amazon one just as a trial and no complains other than loosing some top end speed. I just recently went back to my CV-tech because we went on a trip with alot of country roads and i wanted the higher speed with lower rpm.

You can also take your CVtech clutch apart, just mount it any 1" shaft then remove the big nut that's on the end with a impact. If you do not have an impact and socket to fit a large crescent wrench or pipe wrench will work just as good with wack of a hammer!

I hate this CVtech clutch, nothing but problems since it was new. I have no interest in fixing it lol . but thanks for the heads up . My 780 is my go to but I just haven't driven it enough to make an more videos

@@keithellett4283 I've been tuning my 780 drive clutch for the past couple days and ended up with a engagement speed of about 2800 rpms. I used the 41 gram rollers with the purple springs and I freaking love it! Mind you it is a fully built and stroked 460 with billet everything along with a big cam that idles comfortably around 2200 rpms. Before the clutch would engage as soon as it started.

@@BubbaB43 I need to reinstall my 780 back on my cart and mess with mine. my cart will be going under the knife this weekend for new ignition switch, back seat, Dual Action Rear springs & fuel gauge. I am running a 670 engine not the 460.

I bought same kit from Vegas carts. And struggling with the clutch as well. My problem is it engaging at too low RPMS. it's want to engage at an idle. Are you having any luck with this clutch

I've had nothing but issues with my CVTech clutch since it was new, its currently back on my cart for the time being but I do like the 780 better, it doesn't stick as much. my 780 clutch was only $130 at the time, I would imagine they are quite a bit more now days.

I just did this same upgrade on my new predator 459cc motor. I'm repowering my American Sportworks (Landmaster) UTV. Should be dropping a video on the completed install this coming weekend. How as the comet 780 been holding up for you ?

I actually love it, works great, has given me ZERO issues at all, i just want a larger clutch to be able to cruse faster with lower RPMs, not so much after the top speed.

@@1620GarageAndFarm Yeah the 670 clone is definitely the way to go it works great and I literally abuse the crap out of this thing and it hasn’t skipped a beat. I don’t know about long-term exposure over a genuine Comet but for the price savings especially what I paid for it I lost nothing. I expect when I put the 1190 Comet Installed on there I should be pushing 45+ miles an hour if needed lol

@@keithellett4283 I picked up the new Predator Max Performance 459cc . I'm shocked how well it goes. I wanted to go 670 .. But I was not sure it would fit.

Why did you stay with the 780 instead of going with the Comet 40?

I’m doing a little test run on the 780 comet, my comment 40 had spring issues and ended up in resulting in failure. I think it was due to excessive high RPMs because of the V twin engine with stock gears 11.5:1 My new gears are 6:1 so now my RPMs are much lower and heat displacement from my header is also lower due to lower RPMs. I’m hoping this will solve my issue with the clutch failing.
