As to the “smell”, I had a 66 Sport Coupe, bench seat factory 4 speed car in the late 70’s, and like so many of us, let it go. Took the engine and trans out to put in a 68 El Camino ( that I also don’t have anymore!) The Nova would re-appear from time to time over the years in various stages of restoration. I think it was about 15 years ago we saw one for sale out in front of a guys house, so we stopped to look at it. And by golly, it was my old car, that I sold for $400 without the power train years before. He was asking 20k. Nicely restored, but an automatic trans. I waved my wife over to have a look, she stuck her head in the door, took a peak. When we drove away she said “ I could tell it was your old car. It still smells like gas inside”!

Love that smell!! Even after a new interior my 67 El still has a similar smell Aunts 70s LTD station wagon early 70s smelled even better. Only a car guy can agree on this lol.

In my part of the USA the smell was often moldy as those old windows were all leaky by the early 70's. Rusted out rear trunk pan and quarters were common. The memories are fond non the less though.

I had a brand new 66 SS Nova in high school. Marina blue with black interior ,4spd,Hurst,American wheels shifter, wheelwell headers and 4:56 gears. Not many cars could keep up with her. Sadly I had to let her go when I went to art school. 3 to 12 mpg, it was hard to afford to drive back then. I don't doubt that the black car is the real thing but where are the 327's above the V8's on front fender. It should have 137 on the Vin. I have other collectible cars but I would love to have my dream car back...👍👍

See marking :13 where I ask if it’s the original engine still. Then look at the L79 thermostat housing and winters intake. Then notice the 1:22 mark where you can see the 327 holes in the fender. Would you like me to crawl under the car and show you the 12 bolt and 3/8” fuel line as well?

I would do it all stock and add disk brakes . Maybe a bit of head porting . Don’t change things you can’t turn back .

327 hp... 250, 275, 300, 350 and 375 hp... 302 that came out in 67 was faster than the 327...

Probably not. The exact reason that the L-79 327-350HP engine was not available in the 1967 Chevy II was that Chevrolet management knew that it would out run the new for 1967 Camaro.
