As to the “smell”, I had a 66 Sport Coupe, bench seat factory 4 speed car in the late 70’s, and like so many of us, let it go. Took the engine and trans out to put in a 68 El Camino ( that I also don’t have anymore!) The Nova would re-appear from time to time over the years in various stages of restoration. I think it was about 15 years ago we saw one for sale out in front of a guys house, so we stopped to look at it. And by golly, it was my old car, that I sold for $400 without the power train years before. He was asking 20k. Nicely restored, but an automatic trans. I waved my wife over to have a look, she stuck her head in the door, took a peak. When we drove away she said “ I could tell it was your old car. It still smells like gas inside”!
@gordocarbo3 ай бұрын
Love that smell!! Even after a new interior my 67 El still has a similar smell Aunts 70s LTD station wagon early 70s smelled even better. Only a car guy can agree on this lol.
@Dayandcounting24 күн бұрын
In my part of the USA the smell was often moldy as those old windows were all leaky by the early 70's. Rusted out rear trunk pan and quarters were common. The memories are fond non the less though.
