The book Writing the Big Book adds credibility and purpose to my continued sobriety. These lectures are pure gold.

The Oxford Groups religious approach played a Big part in how Bill presented his story and his writing in the solutions presented in the Big Book The Oxford Group and Early AA used the Bible and the parables of the four Gospels in their meetings. The Four Gospels was much respected and considered a profound spiritual understanding in those days, in addition, they also used the Sermon on the Mount. These cannot be overlooked or omitted. Bill essentially watered down the Oxford Groups Religious approach into a more easily digestible message. The Ego is very much in tact long after we get sober, and I'm sure Bill had moments in his continued sobriety about his bed time stories and had anguish over them at times. My sponsor has over 55 years of sobriety in AA. He is a messenger of the love and grace Alcoholics Anonymous and the Four Gospels AA's message is aimed at.

Thank you for pointing that out. Let’s hope someday they will appear in the near future. ☕️

Very interesting. Makes me think of Joseph Campbell's take on myths and the heros journey.

Contemporary AA has returned to the flying blind period again, with the "I don't know how it works, it just does, so I don't drink and go to meetings" smh
