A very creative take, of this historic event. Agree possibly the best, creatively to date. However, I too think the music was a little loud at times, when there was sufficient steam audio. Thank you, from a long, long, way a way.

I’ve been waiting for the music comments. First there are a thousand videos on YT of these trains and they are all the same. Train comes down the track and they pan over to it. Is Bog Boy only running the front set of drivers or is that how it functions when it first starts out? I have noticed on several videos that the steam is only venting from the front cylinders most of the time. Almost make sense, it doesn't need full power to pull what its pulling.

Interesting. 844 has 2 cylinders and when it starts or is running you can surely hear them in action. The chuff is loud and sharp- indicating high pressure. BUT on 4014, the Whatsit gear is about in neutral and there is not chuffing despite having 4 cylinders. indicating very little pressure being admitted to the cylinders. Two questions come to mind - Why not tighten the packing glands on the front engine. The second, after years of rebuild, why is it necessary to pump grease into bearings every 100 miles or so. This old fashioned requirement was the plague of steam locomotives and one of the many reasons they faded from active service. Why rebuilt that amazing, magnificent, powerful machine and not put in roller bearings. Would that have taken away from it's historic value or ability to pull heavy loads? It certainly would have eliminated the need to stop for grease instead of water. After all, they converted it to oil and put in an entirely new lubrication system. Why not bearings and make it even more efficient. To the photographer - Highest compliment. Amazing job of having clear pictures, steady and very interesting perspective.

I can’t answer any of the train questions but I thank you for the compliment! I love to get quality footage of really cool stuff and man I had an awesome day seeing these amazing peace’s of America history and getting to geek out with my cameras!

Pretty much 1/4 throttle only till she breaks in maby on the way back we will see some steam out of it, But mind you this loco can pull almost 100 cars and 5000 tons......The big boy would be at idle pulling that consist

@jameskratzer20145 жыл бұрын
The Q , they haven’t been running it hard yet, they’re taking their time breaking it in. But if you watch the video again, pay attention when they start up after servicing the rods. The front left is loosing steam, but the rear left isn’t.

So as of right now there are 261 👍on this video. You and 9 others gave it a 👎🏻 so your opinion doesn’t mean anything to me. I love how you think you know what’s good and bad when you know nothing about film/video. I can tell you’re not a cheater and know nothing about film or video because you wouldn’t leave comments like this. I see lots of videos I don’t like but I’d never leave a negative comment because I know how much work goes into filming, producing, editing and uploading videos. Who am I to judge someone’s creativity. Would you go to an art show and tell an artist what you don’t like about his painting? Probably not.,. So why would you give your opinion on someone’s video? I get it, you live a miserable life that you hate everything about, but you don’t need to try and drag others down with you. Cheer up and enjoy KZbin videos for what they ARE, not what YOU want them to be.

I don't think it's pushing it. I think they just have it for a backup or maybe its used for a generator for the cars behind it. I'm not real sure but you can see some wheel slip in the video when big boy starts moving.
