The generator room and deacon room water tight doors are not submarine doors!!! I am a retired submarine Chief! These doors appear to be a close resemblance to surface ship doors! Just to let you know! Aloha. MMC(ss) Crozier USN ret.

Bravo. Now all we hope now is for everyone who knows where this bunker is to forget about it because the best guarantee of an effective bunker is anonymity. We are just glad that in this day and age, the owner of the bunker doesn't have to kill everyone who worked on this bunker. He he.

Watched a couple of your walk throughs for bunkers, from a psychological standpoint, your customers would benefit from screens on walls that have a preloaded sunny day with woods set up like windows, that randomly change to a rainy day. With sound of crickets and frogs at night. The smart tvs would just look like windows with curtains and blinds. They can manually change the "Channel" or turn them off. But the subliminal idea of being in a normal situation may help mental health in a long term stint in an emergency situation stuck in your bunker.

Although this appears to be constructed from galvanized steel i would still paint it or even cover it with fiberglass / epoxy as the the stone could pierce the galvanized layer and cause point for corrosion to set in. Further more a cathodic protection system may also be of of benefit
@kaptein1247
@kaptein1247 Жыл бұрын
I dont think you understand the reason why the pipe is galvanised. When the zinc layer gets compromised it wil ''sacrifise'' itself and repair the scratch. Paint, while offering some protection. Its minimal. Kind of like covering it with a blancet. Best would be to cover it in concrete. Wont see any rust for decades that way

Paranoia can certainly be expensive. Thanks for showing us how these are built. Great view of the weak points to attack in these bolt holes. It would be a simple matter to make them uninhabitable by permanently plugging the vent pipes. Or one could simply smoke out the inhabitants by building fires around the vent pipes. Add a few loads of dirt on the horizontal door.... then weld them shut. Add an emergency exit? Go ahead. once you're out of the shelter it does you no good.

problem with this is, as you can see your water supplies is all in tanks, so each time you have a shower u essentially deplete a ton of your water resources, stuff as simple as laundry or doing the dishes would be a pain to do aswell, so its not very practical to live inside premanently.

The escape hatch seems to be single-use after you break the plastic and drain the sand? How would a person reset the escape hatch for re-use after having broken plastic, drained the sand, etc? Just refill it with the same sand or is there something else?

I like the concept of what you are doing, but the escape hatch seems like it would take way to long to escape the way it’s currently set up. Also the air vents and exhaust for the generator pipes coming out of the ground probably should be another two foot higher in the even of massive rainfall in a short period. (Sometimes it happens in West Texas). Last but not least- the entry stairwell will probably be difficult for elderly people and younger children to access if needed (it obviously would work well for older kids through maybe mid 60s).

My knees hurt just seeing that. A few yoga mats would fix that. My biggest let down is the lack of "dynamat" on the walls; if I had to live in there, I'd be killing people from all the echo. (but these things are mostly for show. nobody ever thinks about actually living in one for months/years. My aunt's house -- built in the 60s -- had a bomb shelter; everyone who's ever seen it says it's a horrible tomb, and it's half the size of the house.)

Wow! Great job! Great comments too! One thing came to mind for sure though, the air flow system was good but what about fallout filtration? You would probably require another large galvanized conduit section similar to the generator room just for a decent water/ activated carbon scrubber. Then there are the bio hazard airborne particulates to consider as well and a toxic gas/ radioactive particulate removal system with an exterior sensor array to inform the residents of outside air quality. A decent scrubber will probably cost an additional 100G. Any thoughts you have would be appreciated. I subbed and hit the like button. Pretty cool dude. Thank you kindly.

about the scape pod, wouldn't you think that the sand you poured in will be very hard? even tho there's no way water can filter in the sand will harden in time. so when you remove the cover from the bottom off then... no sand will come down. have you ever had sand in a place for so long then stays in its shape? that's what i think it'll happen. also, the scape pod is too close to the other end. if somebody is trying to break in, don't you think they will notice something near by???

Shouldn’t the cliff walls have been covered to keep the sand from mixing with the rock too?

Should spray sound proofing on the door side of that engine room. Help to keep the noise pollution down in the living area.

Talk about a half-ass trench, here ya go. This trench should have been done days ahead of time and done right. Loose gravel to level it out, and that small so called compactor. The bunkers are nice but the prep work needs lots of improvement.

I would love to install these for a living. Even though I hate using a shovel anymore that came from 14 years of above ground and above/inground swimming pool installation. But that would be awesome to install.

Fantastic video, it was very interesting to watch the install. You guys have thought of everything to keep the shelter dry and comfortable . But I have two problems with it, one is the sand you used was wrong, it will compact solid and not come thru the hole, you needed to use a dry sugar sand in my humble opinion. Also wouldn’t it have been easier to install the Diesel Generator, and the fridge before you covered it all up, how are you going to get those things in there now? But besides that I’m looking forward to seeing it finished. And please keep making these install videos, we love them.

I'm thinking a slight grade or hillside would be ideal for getting rid of the water . Entrance from the hillside also with a alt. escape up the hill or close yet hidden . Maybe a could small wind or Hydro turbines for added energy ?
