Interesting idea and only adds a couple bucks at most. I’d just be sure it’s sealed with silicone on the inside and outside to remain air tight, and it would be very long lasting.

I was thinking about that too. Wet sand won’t flow through the 6” screw cap at the bottom so well and would be much harder to get out of the way in a hurry. I like your idea for a cover. Make it air tight and throw in a bunch of desiccate bags to keep it all dry in there.

A few design questions. First, why would you want your generators so close to the entrance and before the decon area? Wouldn't you be getting dirty and contaminating the entire bunker if you needed to work on them or turning them on? You're essentially sealing yourself off from your life supply of power... Second, why would you want a coded armor gun room in a security bunker? If anything I'd want that door on the outside so people can't get in lol. Last point, your emergency escape tunnel is behind the gun safe door. If something happened and you couldn't get out and the only guy with the safe combo is incapacitated then you are screwed. But I'm sure that was a design choice of the owner.

Super nice bunker. My only question would be the fresh air supply pipe for the bunker. What if the house structure was on fire and or collapses. Help me out ok lol. I just don't understand why the generator room is separate from the rest of the bunker. I understand there's emission issues right but, wouldn't you still want access to it from the main bunker area? I think if there's intruders wouldn't you eventually be cut off from your generator...
@ytgeek8268 Жыл бұрын
Horrible design flaw, All an intruder has to do is make it past the first door and take control of the power generation room. Then they own the "Bunker" This is more of a novelty and not a real survival shelter.
@DuxGalt Жыл бұрын
The noise of the generator will be really loud, its best to keep it away. Also most of these bunkers have vault doors to the entrance from the home(this one seems like it will have hidden bookshelf entrance). Then there is the AR500 steel hatch which can be locked from the inside, then there is a gas tight door made of steel. if somebody gets through all that. they can either go through 2 more gas tight doors to get to your living area, or 1 more to get to your generator. if they take out the generator, then you should go out the escape hatch and come back in behind them. ultimately a bunker is not meant to stop a raid, its meant to protect you from a bomb, and its fallout. It is hidden and so nobody should know you have one, that is the real first line of defense.
@repugnant018 ай бұрын
@Ron, just out of curiosity, how do you dispose of garbage if you have to be holed up for months at a time in your bunker? Is there a garbage incinerator that you offer? What if a pet dies and you can't come out of the bunker? You gotta dispose of it somehow.

These are amazing in their great for most situation but my problem is what happens during flooding. If a huge catastrophe happens, plugs out most of the United States how does one survive until the water recedes. Why doesn't anybody think about having a room strictly for plants. They could grow their own food and there's plants could provide fresh oxygen. Also an idea of mine would be to have an exercise room where everything is tied to batteries it might not be much but if you have multiple people down there that put in an hour or two a day it would be able to help me charge some batteries as well just in case a generator is not an option. Set up a hydroponic system try to tap into some underground water source have a grow room use power from exercise equipment to power the lights amongst other things you're also able to grow food you can use your body waste as compost not going to be fun but it's an option and you're that much closer to self-sufficiency. Spending a half a million on a bunker is a lot of money only provide Securities in certain situations but a death sentence and others. You guys are amazing though you do great work I know a lot of these things are restricted to what somebody can afford or what the customer wants just speaking hypothetically

Designers! I see many people making the same gross mistake in opening an external hatch: simulate a situation where a multi-ton mass of soil, rocks and tree debris is lifted into the air by a blast wave! And all this will lie on top of the hatch cover, which opens outward and will be physically impossible to open from the inside! And even if there is an additional hole on the other side of the bunker that leads up, it will also be blocked, and the inhabitants of the bunker will be buried alive! I propose installing 2-3 manual hydraulic jacks on the door leaf, so that if the door is blocked from above, it can be raised to such a height that a person can climb through. That's the minimum.
