To have running water in below ground bunker is a MAJOR problem an owner will need to endure EVERY day that bunker is in working order. If the bunker fails, it will likely be a water problem that kills it. If you put running water in a bunker below grade and/or below the water table make certain you have plans on how to handle water issues with/without power, high water table, pump failures, pipe failures, clogged drains, etc. I have running water but may bunker is above ground and the water table so I am not saying do not have it, I am only advising you that if something can fail, then count on it flailing sometime and how you will deal with it. Ron makes GREAT shelters by the way and the eyewash station is awesome. If you live within 10 miles of a nuclear target a flat roof is a horrible idea, if you live more than 30 miles do you really need a bunker like this "Man-Cave" or just a good basement for fallout protection only? Food for thought.

You might consider 02 and CO sensors in the units if you haven't already. LIOH canisters as a backup in case the outside air should be interrupted. Maybe for the higher end models. I used to do some work on ECLSS systems for manned spacecraft.

Another fantastic bunker, I have dumb question, you mentioned it is powered by a diesel generator, how do you store your diesel fuel long term to stop it deteriorating? Reason I ask is I had an algae growth in the diesel tank of my old diesel car that was in storage.
@panpiper
@panpiper 2 жыл бұрын
I would surmize you refuel your car from your bunker supply till a bunker tank is empty then refill that tank with fresh fuel. Obviously you'd want a few such tanks to rotate through. Also there are fuel preservatives you can add to the fuel.

@panpiper
@panpiper 2 жыл бұрын
@@alm777 The idea of a bunker is that you stay in it only for a few weeks till the fallout has subsided sufficiently. It's not that difficult to maintain enough fuel to last those few weeks. If you intend to stay in your bunker longer than that, you might want to invest in a more expensive, but longer lasting option of an off grid solar system with battery storage. If you go the solar route, you might also maintain a generator, "in case something malfunctions".

Very nice. One of the things I would definitely do if I was spending anything near 200,000 is get a pipe attached to this with none of the bells or whistles, just have it attached to the main one by a door. That pipe would probably be a lot cheaper with no furnishings or anything, not even a floor, just a little platform to sit on. Anyone who needed to get away and relax on their own would just go into the unfurnished pipe. It would be MUCH cheaper and give you lots of space compared to a pipe you have to furnish and stuff. You could go in there with a bouncy ball and bounce it off the wall, have some darts and throw it at a target, listen to music without disturbing the family, with a big enough pipe you could even fit a little swing in there, maybe put a few plants down there for a hobby or a fish tank. I'd also want a bath instead of just a shower, it's a little change that takes up a couple more feet but will give you lots of recreation as you could sit inside of the bath and relax. I wouldn't need a bunk bed because I have a small family but I'd make sure that at least one of the beds are bunks anyway (probably 2 beds on one side would be bunks so you still have headroom on two beds while having bunks on others, the uniformity will be nice), what people don't realize about bunk beds is that the bunks themselves make great storage spaces. Put a board over the bars and you've just created a huge shelf space that's easily accessible and easier to put heavy things on than under the floor storage. Nobody sleeps in my room in my house but I've got about 10 boxes of survival supplies in the bunk above me. Keep a couple extra blankets in with you and you can convert a bunk into a "mini room" by draping sheets over it, giving extra privacy. If you're a little cold you can attach blankets to the side of the bunk bed instead and it will keep you warmer. A "dresser conversion" can be made on top of one of the bunks, since it looks like there isn't much personal clothes room besides maybe under the floors a bunk bed could be used as a wardrobe to house clothes, it could have a mirror in it to give the impression of having more space inside while letting you try on outfits to kill time. Alternatively put a TV on a bunk and you have an extra recreation room for the kids to play games in while you watch TV in the next room. Oh, and a small screen would go in front of the shower so if needed someone can use the bathroom while someone else is showering.
@dirtydan2721
@dirtydan2721 2 жыл бұрын
Oh, and I'd highly advise anyone serious about living in a bunker to have a survival "craptop", just get a cheap laptop and put movies, game ROMs, free ebooks, PDF survival guides, anything that you can find to go on it. It's cheap, takes up little space, can store tons of useful information, and if you buy a decent external hard drive you can put tons of movies and songs on it without taking up much space. Download whatever music you can, music doesn't take up a lot of space and even if you don't like a particular song it gives you variety.

Personally I don’t like underfloor storage, it gets dirty and it’s affected by a leaking pipe, but in the case of a culvert design it’s a side result anyway. I’d imagine steel plates come in standard sizes and transport width is a fixed constraint, so any max’ed design is inevitably going to have wasted underfloor space. If you were building this on site you’d make it wider rather than taller

I would advise to you its great if you have alternative of fuel and water in bunker because when nuclear war haapen radation will last more then 10 or 20 years depand upon nuclear warhead use. So i belive you should have alternative of water and fuel like wind electric genrator and underground water etc Plus if you add some nuclear radaition suite and add radation device that would make its more powerful bunker in world.

Do you guys build these handicap accessible? If I was able to afford something like this I would want some sort of manual hydraulic lift for the entrance and escape.... Just curious...
