Wow this is pretty rare. I’ve been looking for a live version of this. She looks rather young in 68 a lot changed quickly

Love it. But the above was recorded in April 1967 not August '68.

This really captures one of the best periods in music history! It's raw and imperfect, which just makes it that much more authentic. I love this, and wish I could go back and be 20 there for a thousand years. Unfortunately, I was on the East Coast with people driving by and yelling "get a haircut, ya dirty Commie!" or something as unoriginal; which was better than the fights I got in for looking like a "disgrace to the human race" Eventually I realized that I'm 200 pounds and 6 foot and that I could fight back (Sad that I had to though).

Janis can do no wrong. Leonard knew all about that in the Chelsea. Don’t me the Chelsea. I lost my 200 photos of it in winter 2013. As though losing my other that year wasn’t quite enough l

The press was pretty harsh on Big Brother back in the day; they had a reputation for being sloppy and amateurish. I'm really failing to see that. The band has good timing and plays well together, everyone is competent with their instrument. Getz the drummer, is particularly impressive, and the rhythm section is in the pocket. The guitar leads have a rough edge to them, partly because they're probably heavily improvised, but live guitar leads tend to be that way anyway. Jimmy Page had a similar edge. Again, I'm just not seeing the mediocre qualities the contemporary press talked about. My only guess is that it had to do with the band's semi-improvisational style. If anyone has any insights that can enlighten me, please share; I'm very interested.
