It does sound a vast amount of data but I think most, if not all, is provided when you book. I’ve just booked my apartment for next year and paid by credit card so they have those details, I’ve had to send a copy of my passport, I filled in a form with my home address, telephone number and the details of my party members. I’ve also booked my flight and passed on those details as requested by the apartment management company so they have arrival details. We also have the new visa system coming in next year so won’t that collect all this information? I must confess that the security of the information collected is a bit of a worry especially being Spain!

I think you’re right but there are reasons for the imposition of these new rules (and they don’t just apply to UK holidaymakers). The World is in a potentially dangerous conflict scenario, so I predict that other governments will impose more restrictions - some already have been doing so for years). But the reaction of tourists and travellers will be key here. If people stop travelling to an area, that will have an enormous negative impact on the economy. My guess is that the new rules will either be ignored by hotels etc. or they’ll be revoked in time.

This is everyone’s chance to pick which kind of world they want to live in. While some people are comforted by not owning anything and having government control their every move many are not willing to go quietly into more enslavement then we already have. Yes, Orwellian for sure. But for those who don’t like living under a nanny state you must resist. Even if it means your travel plans are thwarted. In my country after lockdown the mind control elite decided to make gyms, restaurants, entertainment venues and many types of shops off limits to those without vaccine passports. We were also told we could not leave our country without them. So, while some found ways around in order to partake of these things many others opted out and did not travel as well. Of course the ridiculousness ensued with travellers coming into the country having to pay to stay for a week at a Covid hotel selected by the government which triple charged them and gave them bread and water basically. Look, the majority just goes along to get along they will see their information sold on the dark web, have their property taken over while they are gone on trip, have their ID and bank accounts stolen and eventually be subject to the social credit score that almost nobody will win at. Stand up now or fall down later. Remember the elite have had a mission for decades to cull back the herd…us. How do you think they will get rid of 13 our 14 people after all. The belt will tighten until there is no more you. So take heed and say no to the corporate government and any of their dastardly deeds for they never have loved you…they just made it seem that way so you would comply.

It will negatively impact on tourism (perhaps that’s what is wanted, who knows), but my bet is that the decree will be withdrawn within a few months if it does appear to be having negative economic impact. Is it an infringement of civil liberty? That’s debatable. I guess one could argue that a country is entitled to impose whatever rules that it likes to aid government control. The amount of, and the detailed nature of the information, appears excessive. It’s important to remember that they’re not singling out the UK or discriminating against us - the rules will apply to anyone staying in the country (not clear if it also applies to other EU member state’s citizens, I’m assuming not). It would certainly put me off travelling there. What appears to be happening here (and in some other countries too) is a gradual rowing back of personal freedoms and freedom of movement towards ‘authoritarian’ type control. The World is a dangerous place right now, and in many areas on a pseudo wartime footing. It is inevitable that impacts on personal freedoms and increases government controls.

To do with illegal immigrants living there, Trump in the US claims they are voting in the next election, which I doubt so without proof? Tax evasion seems imo to be the principal reason! Been coming to Mallorca for 30 years but this year was the last and that goes for most of the ppl I know who go ,, the airport will be a absolute nitemare next year with crazy ques to get out the airport.. and then when u get to your hotel will be the same nothing but ques as there is no automatic way of doing it ,, when you arrive at your hotel they want your passport credit card details phone number email address,and photo ,, it’s a joke it will ruin tourism on the island ,, oh well there of lots of other places that will gladly take my money without the hassle
@SteveandAnitainMallorca2 ай бұрын
I don't think the airport will be much different. The electronic scanners are already in use and seem to work well. Next year we will have ETIAS (no date fixed yet), but that is all done before you get to the airport, so that shouldn't be a problem. This new law about collecting data could be an issue, if it comes into force. It has now been delay to December. We'll have to wait and see, but most of that data could be collected before you travel.

@@RickyAllen-j8u The scanners are already in use in Mallorca and cause few delays. The finger print will be introduced in November, when it is quieter, so shouldn't be too much of a problem. They also want to know weather you can afford your holiday and weather you are not going to be overspending! This means they have access to look at your bankdata. This is just disgustingly implementing their agenda. All this with the excuse `security`and `terrorism`.... but the borders keep on to be widely open....This is how they will make people avoid travelling, bit by bit we are driven into staying at home, close to our homes (15 minute cities will come to live more rapidly than we think).
