The Premier League used to do this in 2019 but it was a disadvantage because the other top leagues didn’t do it, so they scrapped it in 2020

@@Clarkey868That’s an issue for the other leagues and you know that. Madrid and Barca take all of the TV money. Bayern takes all of the TV money in Germany. A league being open for transfers while everyone else is closed, is a true advantage. A lack of money is a consequence of greed from the top teams in Spain and Germany.

I like the change - avoids some distractions , avoids some complicated situations once season started / as Fab mentioned potentially a player playing against a team about to be bought buy etc. Also makes sure clubs get business done earlier. The only worry is let’s say first or second match of the season an integral starter gets a massive long term injury. Perhaps if this rule change happens clubs could be allowed one post window emergency signing if needed (with valid proof of serious injury) in an emergency window that potentially could be open / valid for a week or two after the normal window closes.

i prefer they close 1st aug. so the team can get fous on preparation on new season. actually transfer window should open immediately after season end and till pre season start so players/management/coaches all return to the club and prep for new season and not thinking about about who going in or out
